I am sorry to say, but around 1935 I suddenly got the message Schotland attacked England.

???

Weird. Anyway when I checked it out I noticed the strangest thing; England was entirely overrun by partisans, except for Dover and another coastal province.

I am sorry, but I don't think that should be possible. But for some reason all their provinces had 50% and more partisan activity.

To make it even stranger, I got a message later that Belgium had annexed Schotland. But for some reason the territory's were added to England, which was still conquered by the partisans. Those provinces were quickly overran by the partisans.

What is going on?

Yep. Had the same thing happen in one of my games as Germany (1933 scenario). I just happened to peak across the Channel around 1935 and most of England was black. Scotland declared independence and attacked England, as did Cornwall, Cyprus, and Malta.

England ended up accepting peace with both Malta and Cyprus, who remained as new countries separate from the Allies. Scotland evenually fell to the Belgians (who landed in Edinburgh while Scotland's army was nearly in London).

The problem is that Belgium never left the Alliance in late '35, and Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Bhutan, Oman, South Africa, and the Indian Empire all joined the Allies in early 1935 and remained in the Alliance well after hostilities with former English holdings were ended. So when war broke out with Poland in '39, I had to extend my western line to cover Belgium as well and my Luftwaffe was not large enough to handle the Allied combined air forces.

Needless to say that once the novelty of a crumbling Brittish empire wore off, I quickly realized how badly the scenario sucked (for multiple reasons, not the least of which is the idea that there is absolutely no basis in reality for such an occurence).

I would love to see whatever issue triggered such massive dissent in the Brittish empire addressed so that it will not ruin future games.

In HOI2 games partisans appear due revolts if a country have a high revolts risk. it is clear that in your game a massive revolts happened to UK. If an area with the minimun cores is controlled by partisans, after a few months a new nation may be created by the AI. It is clear that in your game the revolt risk of UK was too high, that's why Scotland, Malta and Cyprus was created. What's the reason of this high revolt risk? it may be due to several reasons. Anyway it is not normal, and never seen it before in my games. Also, UK AI should be able to control partisans, especially in the home islands. Why the UK AI didn't "control" the partisans? well, difficult to say. it seems that UK suffered a total breakdown. Please send the save to irshappa's support e-mail

Why Belgium returned Scottish provinces to UK? they are in the same alliance i guess.

It has become even stranger now.

The scottisch have been conquered, the rebellion destroyed except for those on the other island.

However France now owns 2 provinces in England and There is a strange mini-nation that is peaceful with England in the tip of the island.

I don't mean to be rude to Iron Cross, but that just doesn't make any sense. What did they do that screwed up the game this bad?

For one; why aren't the britisch provinces national provinces in which there shouldn't be any partisan activity?

Iron Cross is defeninetly a great game, but they have seemed to have destroyed some of the balance which made HOI great in the first place.

This is not a Iron Cross related issue :) Similar situations may happen even in vanilla. I'm pretty sure that this will happen only once every 100 games you play.
It is clear the total breakdown of UK in your game, What is the reason? As I told you there may be many reasons for that, the most common is that people cheat in their games and mees everything up. Again, please send the save to irshappa's support e-mail and we will take a look :)

There is far too much of a chance of Ukrainian partisans overrunning the SU because all the SU's army has been disbanded (I solved that by giving them a lot more resources and money in the 1933 scenario) and I've consistently seen partisans overrunning all of Siam. Cured that as the British and the French by force allying with them and sending troops in to put down the rebellion.
