Was playing a game as Japan minding my own business, having annexed and puppeted nat. china and the dutch east indies, when all of the sudden the USSR DOW:s me. A few days later, I get this:

Doesn't strike me as very historically plausible. :)

Lol - the Tokyo-Washington Axis

Two options:
1. Accept and make the world quake at your power or...

2. Decline and immediately DOW the United States for affronting the Emperor's intelligence with their false 'offer' of peace...and see how long you last!

I played a little further, choosing to accept the US as my ally. A few months later they oil embargoed me. Why would they do such a thing to an ally? :( Anyhow, not that it matters, because for some reason I'm generating resources enough to supply the entire world. I have between 1000-4000+ per day of all resource types. This happened after I had annexed and puppeted china I believe. Seems a bit much don't it?

For what it's worth, yes, the USSR did DOW me. But they were also still fighting the germans in the west - and losing - so WWII wasn't over. And I didn't notice any Cold War triggers either.

I belive the oil embargo is a default event.
Also, there are no particular AIs yet (from my understanding) so countries will generally gang up and whomever they see as the aggressor. Russia got a beligerence boost by DOWing you and the US took offense to the belligerence not the DOW

The game response is entirely appropriate. The oil embargo event needs to check to make sure the USA and Japan are not allied.
