Just picked up the game again and it used to work before just fine. After installing and starting it stops loading on the starting screen and seems to freeze. When I hit the Windows key I see a dialoge box with this message:

--- ERROR: (Unknown statement) `nationalidentity = policy_identity_defensive`
Line = 1345 file = db/revolt.txt ---

I checked the revolt.txt but the line is empty. There isnt even anything closly related to this message in the file.

I tried to start with and without patches but same outcome. It is a standard out of the box german retail game. No mods or downloads.

Any ideas?

The line number 1345 should be
Code:
	nationalidentity = "policy_identity_defensive"
If the game does not know what this is then it's missing a file called ideas.txt in db\ideas.

Please uninstall the game completely, if you use Vista or Win7 DO NOT install into the default path under c:\program files, use somethin like c:\Arsenal of Democracy or whatever you like.

Make sure the CD/DVD is not scratched or damaged in another way, if you have two optical drives, please try installing from the other drive.

Thanks Denniss,

I should have known that windows is screwing with me. Installing it in a new folder did it!

Still dont really know where these lines of code went. When opening the db/revolt.txt file before there was nothing in the line. Strange things happening here.

Thanks again.
