That´s the Imperial Bodyguard. Would translate to regular Infantry.

thes are typical retainers of a nobleman. Militia would´ve looked like that.

Why are they on parade with no shoes?

The ones that have shoes wear them for fashion reasons or to display they have been abroad and know how to properly dress

They found out that their troops march twice as fast without wearing boots or shoes, so they just dropped the idea of forcing the soldiers to wear any.

Hehe, it would be nice to have those sprites for Ethiopia and maybe other african countries, they would add very much colour to the game, i wish i could make them!

no wonder the ethiopians lost to italy, their camoflauge sucks. But i would love to see sprites like that for eithiopa and other african countries (there arent very many anyways)

No.. the Italians won through terror bombings, and you make it seem like Ethiopia was a push over for Italy.

yea I make it seem that way because last time I checked they were a pretty big pushover. And I'm not dumping on the ethiopians. I can read history as well as you Burris and I know that Ehtiopia had no tanks, machine guns, and only one aeroplane. I also know that the Italians used massed bombings ove villages and poison gas. The Ethiopians fought really hard to keep their country but that doesn't change the fact that they were easily conquered.

It's not their fault that the Italians were more modernized and used those tactics. And I was only remarking on the battle lines so get off my back.

Making infantry sprite from scratch (modelling, animating, etc) is rather difficult. How about you give a reference to a similar shaped infantry in HoI to be recolored? That's much easier and despite my promises to make one in the past I'll try to make one eventually.

Whatever model you think fits best. Perhaps it shouldn´t be the coat-wearing guys For Inf that could work. Militia....?

color is definitely the important factor here, next to model of course. Militia might do. Anyway, can you give me the coloring description? They kinda look like something out of WW1.

Sekinoss, what´s the easiest way to re-colour a sprite? I have paintshop, but i´m not very used to it. I´d love to recolour some inf sprites to make inf sprites for some minor countries, but i find colouring quite tedious and difficult. Can you help me?

colour would be a beige/sand I think. the fur on the shoulders and hats is a lion´s mane...as a measure for the colours on the picture only. regular Infantry wouldn´t have these of course.
the eth militia like on the 2nd pic would need a new model I fear. Their clothes are white, the main reason to have uniforms at all, like pointed out before the camouflage effects are rather bad...

I have read somewhere, that Haile Selassie bought several thousands of italian military boots when on a journey to Europe in the thirties. When the Italians conquered Ethiopia, they sold the boots found in the magazines to some south-american country and with the money earned they tried to bribe Haile Selassie to get back to Ethiopia and become a puppet...

umm

well i've done what I can with the palette shift. turns out that its harder than i thought Sorry to get your hopes up i just realized that the skin colors supposed to be dark. I got the white suits easily, but after many attempts made only little progress with the dark colors. Well, do you want to have some white robed militias?

actually i've made some progress and now the skin is darker (I just imposed a darker image of the head - the hands/feet look OK). Now it has white suit and dark skin. I can make it darker if you want. Here are some pics. However, I'm unable to put it into the game successfully. Is ethiopia C-ETH? I tried and it won't replace.
