"fully compatable" is a loaded term.

I am running ME with no problems. XP - who knows? Unlikely, unless Paradox is a favored partner of MS, and willing to expend a lot of effort ensuring compatability (doubtful to both). That said, MS has discovered backwords compatabiliy in recent years, so there should not be problems, probably...

I don't see why it wouldn't work on XP. It works quite well on Win2k and XP is supposedly better for software compatability.

I'm running ME on my system and only crash maybe twice a month with EU. You probably are having a hardware conflict somewhere you should probably have it looked at. And then again you may want to try uninstalling and reinstalling EU. :)

I currently have a brand new computer, with a clean install of Win M.E. and it crashes constantly with EU 1.9...

A few people have persistent crash problems. Their only resort is to work with Paradox directly (bug forum) to resolve the problem. There are several crash threads that also include some advice that works for some people.

It's going to take some time before XP is "the" Windows. The corporate world has been slow in adopting Win2000, let alone taking on XP. Because of the corporate acceptance of Linux, MS can't throw their weight around in the corporate world like they used to. The consumer market is very strongly driven by compatability, with games being a major, major concern. I don't expect MS to screw things up too badly there. MS does want to establish XBox (or whatever it is) as the gaming platform, but I don't think they would really try to screw up compatability with their Windows line to get people to switch to XBox.

isn't Lindows available now? It emulates Windows on Linux so it might work. I haven't tried it however, but it works on Virtual PC for Mac so Linux should be the same (albeit you'll need a special patch, but you contact Strategy First if you have the US version and it will be ok).

On their site stands "available later this year" . Btw, from what i understand it won`t be available for free (as most linux products till now)
