problems with steam paradox launcher and CTD

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
since the Songhai update I've had trouble with two issues 1) CTD. I start a game play for some time and have to go away. Later when I reload the saved game I get to the part where you press play and the game CTD. I've submitted reports of this each time. 2) I use Steam which uses the paradox launcher. The launcher keeps giving error messages like "unable to update launcher" and something about unable to get metadata. I followed some steps to delete the launcher and force it to be reinstalled but the error keeps happening. I've attached the files in the crash folder and a save game. Thanks for any help.

I think the CTD is not a tech support issue. The save crashes for me as well and from the error.log and exception.txt it looks like to be a crash from mercenaries in the random new world. I think there are several reports about that crash already.
@MacerChug try to play without the Random new world till the next patch, because these saves crash in many if not all cases.

For the launcher update problem it would be helpful if you attach the log files from the launcher as explained in this comment. If you have not done the reinstall instructions for the launcher from that comment, you should try them first.
