EU Rome Gold Exit Crashes

Hi, I just recently got EU Rome Gold Edition off of Direct2Drive. Anytime I try to exit the program I get a system crash. I understand that a patch 2.2 was released and it's supposed to fix this. But I'm not able to install it. Any time I download the patch,from a website as the Direct2Drive version doesn't have a launcher, and attempt to install it I get a message that says Vae Victus not found. The websites that I tried downloading it off of say that the 2.2 patch they have is also for the Gold Version which obviously has the Vae Visctus expansion. When I start up the Gold Edition, the start menu the title Vae Victus is in the background, so I know for sure that my version does have Vae Victus installed with it.

BTW from the error message report I can clearly tell that my version is not 2.2

How come I can't download the 2.2 patch, and if not is there anything I can do to prevent the exit crashes? Thanks
 
The 2.2 version you are downloading is presumably the one released by Paradox for its boxed or GamersGate versions. D2D will have their own release of 2.2, you'll need to contact them.

What error message? You should be able to see the version number as the game starts up, and on the MP menu. Maybe D2D already incorporated 2.2 when you bought it?

The error message that pops up read "Program has encountered an error and needs to close"
details are

App name: romegame.exe
App Ver: 1.0.0.0

I don't think that the program is version 1.0 or why would it be the Gold Edition with the Vae Victus expansion pack. There was only one patch released for Rome Gold so I have to assume that it's already all patched up.

You said that I could check the version in the Multiplayer menu but its not there or anywhere at all. Perhaps you mean that there is a Rome Gold start up menu. However when I launch up Rome Gold the start up menu says Vae Victus, nothing indicating Rome Gold. Is that normal?

Is there anything that I could do in the settings to prevent the exit crashes?

I checked long ago and Direct2Drive doesn't have any patch for EU Rome. I checked the game page on their site and it say's that their version is 2.1

OK, well that means D2D have not yet packaged and released their version of 2.2 . You will have to take it up with them, I'm afraid.
