If you play a major power, EU actually is way to easy! Still, it's great fun. And I refuse to set the difficulty to other than normal/normal, becuase, as it says, it's normal! I don't want to play with an AI which gets the upperhand in recourses etc etc. I, in my game as Turkey, am now so big, that I don't have to care about my diplomatic relations! Not even the coalation of Spain and Poland, which has Casus Belli and -200 with me, dares to attack me! My kingdom streches from China in East, to Tunis in was, and Basrah in South and Eastern Pommerian in North Europe, and in Asia I have annexed the Golden Horde and Astrachan!

I have annexed following countries: Crim, Georgie, Mamalukes, Tripoli, Iraq, Hungary, Wallachia, Moldavia, Mailand, Helvetia, Austria, Saxony, Baden, Hansa, Brandenburg and large pieces of Poland, Persia and Venice. The year is 1598 and I have lost 4 million men in the wars. And I can keep expanding, I'm going to take all of the Holy Roman Empire in my next wars! Then Persia, and then the Scandinavian powers, and you know what? That won't be a problem at all, it will be piece of cake!

It has been a very fun game, but also quite easily as you might can see :)

My experience is that it is much more fun to play a minor, as they always live in fear of being attacked by majors......! Oh yeah.....fear! :D

But I must warn you. Time is short. Right now we have a breathing space. The thunder of cannons has stopped. Fighting has ceased. If we are to create an United European States, whatever name and form it will take, we must start now!

If you want more of a challenge set the difficulty higher - but only the difficulty.
Actually, setting the aggressiveness higher (to furious...) makes the game a lot easier, since the AI wastes its troops in senseless actions. (I've seen armies of 5k charge my big army of 25k, enemy losing lots of soldiers there, when he could easily have waited to build up a bigger army before attacking.)
Personally I'm a bit amused of all posts which declare proudly that the players have won against furios AI... normal aggressiveness is harder :)
Also, the highest challenge (imho) is not to play a one-rich-province minor, but a minor with relative much land and nearly no money (so you get slow research), hungary or kazan, for example)

Gorlin is 99% right :), BUT

a) Though 'AI furious' is ridiculous, 'AI agressive' is o.k., too, I think ('AI normal' makes for the strongest AI, but sometimes leads to VERY peaceful games)
b) there´s one situation, where even a higher difficulty level may make the game easier, because on normal difficulty Spain usually conquers allmost all of America. Now, a higher difficulty level makes the starting conditions worse for ALL countries. So if You are e.g. playing England it could very well be, that the game will be easier in the aspect that You will see less of Spain in North America.
