EU2 on Windows Vista

Hello,

As a MSDN subscriber I’m running Vista RTM which is the same that will reach the shelves on January 30th. I’ve just tried to install EU2 and got a message “This program has know compatibility issues” “Check for solutions online”. After checking for solutions a window pop up with the following information:

"Download updates for Europa Universalis 2"

"This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between Europa Universalis 2 and Windows Vista. Europa Universalis 2 was created by Paradox Interactive AB. An update is available that solves this problem."

"Get the Europa Universalis 2 update from the Paradox Interactive AB website."

There I found only the 1.09 patch which I already have. There is another patch for this compatibility issue?

No, and I have no idea what patch MS are talking about. 1.09 is the last ever patch for EU2. Perhaps as an MSDN subscriber you could ask MS on PI's behalf what the hell they are talking about?

That thread is talking about EU3 actually. I'm talking about EU2 - I believe the vista issue with 2 is a permissions issue- by giving the game administrator permissions like I explained above it works perfect....

Here the messages I got...

Anyway, despite the warnings I just installed the game and it's running smothly. The only "issue" is that the loading screen flick a little bit but it's something that happened before on XP.

Try the old trick of renaming the AVI subdirectory to prevent the Bink player from starting.
