EU2 Resizes My Desktop on Exit

I've had this problem occasionally for a while, and it's happening more frequently now. It's happened with two different computers using the same Compaq S700 monitor. I've used a Creative CT graphics card and Nvidia Ge 5200. What happens is that on exit, the Windows Desktop is resized to a lower res, causing the taskbar to disappear into virtual space below the actual screen. I have to resize it back by right clicking on the desktop, and once this is done, EU2 refuses to start again until I've rebooted. I used to run EU2 in 800x600 and the desktop was in 1024x768. I now run EU2 in 1024x768 as well, but it will still force the desktop into 800x600 on exit - the resolution of the VP table and the Menu look to still be in 800x600 before exiting.

1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.

Follow those three things cuts out 90% of those crashes.
Also make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card and your windows is up to date.
