Hello,
I just tried to start EU2 after an intermission of a few months. If I click on the executable icon, I get a Windows hourglass for a fraction of a second, then nothing, not even any sort of error message. I see no new processes attempting to start in the task manager.
I uninstalled EU2, then reinstalled from the CD and repatched; same result. I've never seen anything like this before during my 2 years playing EU2. No other games have this problem, Victoria and HOI are still booting fine.
I did a dxdiag, everything looked fine there.
I am running Windows ME on a 1 Ghz Pentium 3, with 256 meg of memory.
Is there any error file anywhere that would give me a clue on why a program would fail to even start?
I was wondering if any of these changes I've made to my system since I last played EU2 could conceivably have an impact.
I installed a DSL connection, and added an Ethernet adaptor card. I installed SBC Yahoo DSL connection software.
I also replaced my obsolete Norton Anitvirus 2000 with "eTrust EZ AntiVirus", which was a free package with my Yahoo DSL software. I've noticed that a Disk Defrag just sits at 0% complete forever since I installed this Antivirus software, and presumed the constant disk checking is interfering with the defrag. Could a similar interference be happening with EU2?
Has anyone else reported any EU2 oddities after installing new DSL or Antivirus software?
Thanks for any thoughts,
Stilicho
