Me and my friends have been trying to play in one of our saves, and my friend hosts it usually, but it won't let me join him and crashes my games whenever the save gets to 99%. I have tried completely uninstalling the game and reinstalling it (both the launcher and the game itself) and it has changed absolutely nothing. Not sure if this is a problem specific to Epic games. Please help.

Do any of the players have an ASUS computer? If so they come with an MP "helper" utility (whose name we do not mention in public) which causes this to our games.

Its anytime someone loads up a save. Not too sure about myself because i haven't tried, and in any case I don't usually keep the saves. The only other thing I can think of is that they have it on steam, but we play on the crossplay version of it.
The Steam person will have to be opting into the crossplay version to play with you, so you're actually using the same MP code.
