My system:
AMD Ryzen 5950X
RTX 3080
32GB RAM
Linux (Endeavour OS)
Steam (Flatpak version previously, currently Snap)

What happens (verbose)
I click on "play" in the steam menu, and for a brief moment, the button changes to show "stop", but then switches back to "play" indicating a crash. This also happens with Vic 3.
So far, I've found ways to play the game without the launcher, and ways to access the launcher. Without the launcher is by executing the exe of the game in the local folder directly. Problem is, this means no mods and also no paradox login. The way to access the launcher is by using proton version 8 (the one currently under experimental). However, this still makes the game unplayable, as EU4 has extreme graphical glitches, while VIC3 has performance issues causing the game to run at 5 frames per second.

The launcher has worked previously on linux perfectly fine, but in recent months, it refuses to work for me. It doesn't even give me the crash reporter.

What I've tried:
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the game
- Deleting all game and launcher related files
- Using a different steam instance. Both flatpak and snap have the same problem
- setting multi-sampling to 0 in settings.txt
- letting the launcher run in proton, and then going back to the native linux version after it updates
- Restarting the PC
- Updating packages

I'm at wits end, and the solutions that have worked for others here haven't work for me.

So I switched back to the flatpak version of steam, and the paradox launcher works again, though now it seems that there's another problem between the steam overlay and Vic3 which I'll try to solve in the vic3 forum (nevermind on that one, enabling in-game overlay in steam settings and then the game options was the answer). Regardless, it seems that snap might have some issues of its own with the launcher. If I don't update further, then my problem is probably resolved.
