when opening eu4 i get a grey screen for around 3-4 minutes, before launching into the game.
So the game actually works properly eventually, you would just like to not see that grey screen first, is that right?

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

**File Locations on Mac OS X**
The executable and DLC folder are in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Europa Universalis IV/
To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .
The user files (settings.txt, error logs, saved games, gfx, mods) are in /Users/USER/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/ .

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

The game actually works properly eventually, you would just like to not see that grey screen first, is that right?

Has this game always done this for you, or used to be okay up to some point?

I see you have our similar games CK2 and HOI4 - do they get this issue too?

You are on MacOS 14.6.0 - can you try updating to MacOS 14.6.1 or even MacOS 14.7.0 ? That will probably bring a newer video driver with it.

updated to 15.0.1 sequoia, grey screen still persists. Always had that grey screen so no its never been okay.

Certainly this is not intentional or normal - I don't see it on my iMac for instance.

ck2 and hoi4 are all good, seems to just be this game. I do get a weird purple outline on bottom of the screen maybe a pixel tall, and sometimes boxes with the purple outline fade in over provences when i zoom in, could be a coincidence but idk.

I don't know what is causing this to you, I am sorry! On the poure symptoms I would have thought it was a Rosetta limitation, but why am I and others not getting it? And a MacOS update should have fixed it anyway I would have thought.
