europa universalis II does not start

when ever i try to start the game i get a black screen and the coputer does not respond to comands, i left it like that for 1 hour thinking that it is temporary but it did'n start at all.

I have Intel Celeron 500 Mhz, 16 Mb video card, 384 Mb sdram memory, and 1 Gb free space directx 9.0c, i have the 1.0 english version of the game.

need help

Try going into the EUII folder and renaming the AVi folder to AVI_back. That often does the trick.

And you really need to apply the current patch 1.09, 1.0 has a lot of bugs that are fixed in 1.09 ...

actually this happens to me now and then.

All you need to do is tab down (with alt+ tab or windows button, I use windows for this case.) the black screen and click on Bink(forgot the rest) to start the game

Renaming the folder prevents bink ever starting so you won't face that problem.

THANKS Duke! BINK sometimes would make my graphics freak out so they'd be half normal size and I'd have to restart the game. Thank you for telling me how to kill it.
