5. Absolutely no cheating.
5a. Expansion by taking excessive loans and having planned bankrupcies is considered cheating.

5c. No reloading (other than CTD forced.)
5d. Editing of savegames and use of cheat codes in game is considered cheating.

6. An existing player who loses their country can rejoin the game during the next turn (in their scheduled slot). They must select a country of roughly equal or lesser power to the other human countries in play at that time. At the start of their new turn, and before playing, they will announce in the MP forum what their intended choice is. Any disputes over the selection will be resolved prior to gameplay.[/b]

I would be interested in joining, however, I should mention I have no experience with EU(1 or 2) multiplayer, (And to be honest I'm not briallant single player either....).
However, if you don't mind a rookie in your game, I'm game! (I'd be interested in having a go at an AAR too)

Gezeder, I think that should be ok... we can decide on the level of powers we wish to play...

I say medium/minor European powers...

I can make a list if this sounds ok... by medium I mean denmark, brandenburg, venice, sweden - anyone less than france, spain, turkey, etc. The better players can handicap themselves by picking minor countries... whereas the less experience can have the medium powers. How is that? Or we could do major/medium... that could be interesting as well. Feedback is good on this.

Medium/Minor sounds good to me, but I could go either way.

Would it be also possible to make a short list explaining what is cheating also? (For example, until recently, I didn't know/realise loansharking was considered cheating)

I've been playing EU2 for a month or two now but have only just joined the forums and aren't really aware of the conventions.....

I would also like to join! Yet I have to warn you: I've only played EUII a few weeks, and I'm not a veteran player yet!:)
And I never played a PBEM before, but it seems like a good idea.
And if there is an AAR, I would surely participate writing it.

I'm game for either a medium/minor or major/minor game. Sometimes the minors are fun, if you don't get clobbered by one of the majors.

Ok, our five players are set.

Heretic if one of these players drops out, or can't make the game, you can be a reserve if you still wish to play.

I think medium/minor sounds like a good mix? That way the beginners can grab some decent mid powers, while the more advance players can pick the smaller minor powers.

I will post a list of what I think are available countries... from which we can then debate. Stay tuned... and if you have not done so already, please email me at racinette@hotmail.com, or pm me your email. We need eachothers addys, so as to send out save games, make deals, etc.

Please refer to the first post, where I will update all game info!

And if anyone wants to make their own AI and has questions, simply ask!

Added selectable countries... please debate.

My medium/minor distinction does not mean all too much... but I figure we all want the game competitive, so we can try handicapping ourselves according to our skill levels. Who was place where is not exactly rigorously thought out, but it was somewhat considered.

Also, we need a vote probably:

How many are willing to do an AAR?

I think an AAR would be fun,

As for the selectable countries, they seem fine to me, although some of the medium powers are quite strong.

With regards to picking nations, how do we do it? Are we allowed to view the entire map first, then pick the nation we want? Do we view the save as the last nation played and pick based on that?

I realise since I'm going first (Lucky me!) that it's a moot point for my choice, but I'd like to know for interest's sake...

BTW, has anyone else been practising by letting the AI play your nation 20 years in 25? In alot of ways it's more fun than just playing all the time, constantly battling AI stupidity.

I've been using the Knights with FOW off to view my nations' progress, anyone have a better way?

I think it is fair game to look how the game has progressed. Picking the papal states to realize they are a one province vassal to venice would be harsh, no? :D

Some of the "medium" powers are quite strong - we can scratch any off the list, although I was hoping it would be an honour code. I have played the game enough where I will not choose that strong of a country myself. But the newbies can take advantage of Venice/Sweden etc. if they feel they need the advantage. But they are, of course, up for debate!

You might want to try using Dakota to check progress - the Knights can get into wars etc. And simply use the pappenheim/columbus cheats to spy on the goings on in Europe.

F12 then just enter those words to use those cheats.

3 Votes for the AAR.
Gezeber, Harren, and myself all seem ok with the AAR - Band, DrGrieve, what are your thoughts?

I figure 4 votes out of 5 should make it doable... if someone cant post then that is ok of course, we can just write around that, but four players should give us enough perspectives.

Ok, looks like the AAR is a go. I will write an intro in a few days, possibly modelled on an old one.

Some questions:

1. Are there any things that others would like to discuss, and is everyone willing to wait until this Dutch patch is out?

2. Is everyone ok with the country list?

I will send out an email as soon as I have all the email addresses... Harren, I still need an email address.

I'm okay with waiting a little while I guess, though I hope not too long! (Any estimate on when the patch is due?)

I did have a question with regards to inheritance, when they're edited out will we be editing them out completly or just tailoring to make the right choices?

Also, when & who will make the edited events files, - i take it we'll all need the new ones, and that we can't really make them until the end of the first round.

Apart from that I'm ready & eager to start! :D

(Aaahhh, it's been a while since I enjoyed the PBEM games buzz!)

Well, I rekon we should at least wait a bit to see if we can get Harren in the first round, what does everyone else think?

Hopefully the patch doesn't need too much work before release :)
