Event caused abdication, without an heir shouldn't be possible.

The event in question is "Queen Christina - The Catholic Maiden".
I don't know. if there are more events like this.

id = 3239
title = "flavor_swe.EVTNAME3239"

The event does not check if you have an heir.
In the worst case, you could abdicate and fall into a personal union.

The event options are:
1. To abdicate.
2. To change your religion to catholic.

edit: Some corrections.

I'm sorry, but what "hire" are you referring too?

The lack of grammar is also confusing as you can't possess a verb. So I can't figure out what you could be referring to by context either. Do you mean an heir?

Also, this is a historically accurate event. I'm assuming this refers to the daughter of Gustavus who converted to Catholicism and abdicated? Queen of Sweden?

She didn't have an heir either (or at least not a strong direct heir).

Reactions:
Her abdication did lead to a dynasty switch historically (Karl X Gustav was a Wittelsbach and iirc he still did hold a separate title with some land in the HRE). She didn't really have an heir in game terms but she did actively abdicate in his favor.

In game terms I think your encounter with this event worked out closer to history than it would've with an heir really.

Balance wise you know you lack an heir when you pick options and would likely take it into account, it's fine for events to be situational.
It could still be fun to add more options here though (for instance actually offering you to abdicate in her cousins favor).
