Every patch leaves the game unstartable

Funny enough, the game runs fine when I have V1.00 running. However, when I install ANY patch the game does not start, giving an error message that (translated from German) 'An installed evice is not working properly' and that 'EUROPA.EXE is linked to the missing Export-KERNEL32.DLL:GetDiskFreeExA'. I have updated all my drivers/dll's because of this, but to no avail. V1.00 works, all others not. If anybody experienced the same problem or knows what causes it, I'd be very thankful. I suspect, though, that it's connected to the fact that my PC is at the VERY low end of the game's minmum requirements.

Did you try to find out in what directory version 1.0 installs from your cd and compare with the directory used for the patches?
If these are different, this could be the cause of your trouble I guess.

Thanks for the idea, Oranje, however, I always specify the correct path (so that I get prompted wether or not certain data shall be changed.

I also noticed that it's only the patches 1.02 and up. Patch 1.01 works.
