Glad to see that there still such an active community for this game. I have read "What You Need to Know" and now I'm wondering how signing up for a game works. If there is anything starting soon I'm interested, just wholly noob.

As for familiarity, I guess I would put it at moderate. I rarely fail to dominate in SP (which I know is not unusual) though this is not without an excessive badboy rating that usually ends with an all out battle with the second great power (usually Austria to my France). I understand the suggestion that economics are important, though I am probably ignorant of the various specifics. Some help here would be welcome. Give me a shout on ICQ and let's play!
