Hi,
after my latest test game i have a few observations about diplomacy and AI.
1. Situation: VH/F, year 1944, Germany human player, also in Axis Italy and Nat. Spain, puppets: Vichy, Soviet neutral (till 1945), USA in Allies, Japan NOT in axis but fighting Allies. Germany owns whole Europe, Egipt, Central Africa, Middle East and India (up to Rangoon). England still fights as Allies.
Bug: after puppeting England, there was some fighting between axis England forces and allied forces. However, England have control over quite lot of US divs, apparently exp. forced by US to them, resulting in civil war fights between US divisions. England controled this exp. forces till the end of the game (1948)
Solution: any change of political aligment should result in automatic returning control of exp. forces to owner.
Possibly bug: after joining Axies by England, Japan went neutral to it. Hovever, both England and Japan still take quite a lot of provinces from each other during next few years.
What need improvement:
- USA launched very succesful D-Day, however they never launched even a single attack on any province owned by England (except for initial after-puppeting fights). They need modified AI file in case of annexing/puppeting England by Axis.
- after taking most of Europe, AI (USA) went to sleep. After a year of doing nothing, i decided to declare as Germany war on Turkey, and after this USA woke up.
- AI tends to leave unfinished opponents in situations, where they have for example only one VP province. In this way survived Nat. Spain and Vichy (Free France never fired up). There should be routine checking for this, prioritising attacks against VP provinces.
- AI never send troops into nuked (0 infr) provinces. That's how Germany survived till the end. Simple solution is to zero VP for nuked province (as a side effect it could be the way for easier annexing, but if there is nothing in province after nuke, why count it as VP anyway).
Except above hovever, i was impressed by fast and steady AI gains on Axis.
