Perhaps the feature that I enjoyed the most in EU3 was vassalization. I loved the feeling of extending my power and influence without directly having to manage my new lands (I found this game to get unmanageable when you grow too large). I also liked the feeling of being something of a king of kings if you will.
This was too easy in EU3 though...you could start slowly vassalizing small states until you had an army of vassals to throw themselves at any enemy. Still, an enjoyable mechanic and one that I based many a game off of. Improvements in this particular realm would be fantastic. Maybe more interaction between vassals and yourself...I'm not sure.
My major wish for an improvement in this facet of the game actually ties into a bigger one that has been touched on many times. Cores. Cores I am ok with actually...what I hated the most in my games was the fact that AI wars routinely ended in settlements where one country revoked their cores on provinces that were controlled by another nation. This makes sense, but it becomes a disaster later in the game if I want to take over the land and then release the land back to the original owner as a vassal. The original owner no longer is recognized as the rightful ruler (and I get that things change all the time etc) and I am left with the option of keeping the land for myself, or releasing it to a former ruler who now doesn't recognize some of its historic holdings as a core...and thus will not take it upon formation.
Vassal formation would ideally be totally dynamic with me being able to just select some lands, give it to a new country of my choosing or creation and have them swear fealty to me...I can see where this might cause problems, so instead maybe have a system where there are behind the scene 'unrevokable' cores so you can return lands to a country that once held it at a certain time no matter what history may have required them to do or give up. This itself isn't a simple solution (what point in history are the cores determined etc) so I thought a discussion about potential solutions could be a good one...and maybe help the devs think of something that would immeasurably improve the game...in my opinion
