Extending Gameplay

I absolutely love this game and I like to play in the Grand Campain. I can understand that why the game is set to run between 14th century and end of 17th but when you are having a worldwide war, even this isn't long enough. Is there anyway to make it a total fight for ever mode? I have tried editing the scenario files and when I put in say 500 for startdate and 5600 for enddate, it reverts back to the 14th and 17th century time frames. Any solutions anyone?

All I know is that you can change the actual date in the savegame.
So, if you change the act. date to 1700 in 1790 you get another 90 years to play.
AFAIK you can repeat this process as often as you like.

The reason you can only play between 1492-1792 is that you can not use the same gameengine to make gamemachanics as historically accurate during other periods of time.
