F12 Does not work

I was able to find a couple of threads reguarding this but neither helped me.

When i hit F12 to bring up the console to input a cheat code it does not do anything.

Currently i am running 1.2 for hearts of iron 2.

Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice. I know that my F12 key works cause I've tested it on other games and ive checked it in keyboard on the computer console.

I bought the game at Best Buy in May.

i dont know if it will work but when i want the f12 screen to go away i have to press f11 and f12 in some combination, so if your f11 button or even another button is broken or being held down that might be something, otherwise i havent got a clue

i have a strange keyboard but for each F button there are too things it can do for example my F1 button has help on it also so beofre i can press F1 i have to press F Lock which alows me to use my F buttons

What kind of keyboard do you have?
Some have another key you must press first before the function keys will work.

Mine for instance does use the F LOCK key a user mentioned.

It is a Logitech, as far as what type I am not sure.

I don't think any of the buttons are sticking, everything apears to be in working order.

I'll give the F lock thing a try, but I've never needed that in the past.

Did you say F1 is a help menu in HoI2?

Lo and behold there is a tiny little F lock button next to the esc key. Its kind of a new keyboard and I've pretty much avoided taking the time to study it. Strange though Ive been using the F keys recently with out it locked, only with HoI2 it seems i need to have it locked.

Oh well im not gonna complain.

A question from a newbe.I have been studying the manual for a month now while having a senario up,still have not learned enough to play a game.What is the cheatcode for turning off FOW? It would really help if I could see both sides as I learn the Game! Am a Vet from Talonsoft's Canpaign Series(The Blitz.org),getting a little boring.Ready for more detail.Hopefully some day I can play online in HoI2.
