"Failed to create attached surface!"

I have played AOD without any real problems for almost a year now and all of a sudden it won't load. It says "failed to create attached surface" and then goes back to the desktop immediately after loading.

It does this with all the copies I have, 1.04, 1.062a and third reich.

Can anyone help with this problem

Strange - have you made any upgrades or patches to the OS recently? Or added new drivers?

No. I run Windows 7 which forever seems to be updating something so perhaps I'll try going back to an earlier version (I vaguely recall reading you can do this?!?). I haven't noticed anything else on my computer affected.

I've got the same problem. I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit on that machine. I keep getting a message: "failed to create attached surface" and goes back to the desktop when I click Retry or it shows runtime error if I click Abort.

I have the same problem also
