This will be my first proper AAR, and the first one posted here or elsewhere. I've spent som time recently reading some "old" AAR's from CK2AGoT, they inspired me to do something similar for CK3. I will link those that have been my biggest inspiration under here. Although I, maybe too boldly would say my english isn't awful, it still isn't my native language. Therefore there might be some spelling errors, bad word use, or more likely poor sentence structure etc.

This AAR will be focused on Stannis, his actions and legacy. I started in the Crowned Stag bookmark and played as Stannis. I mainly only played Stannis, but I did switch to Renly to arrange his marriage. The AAR will be told from different perspectives: Maesters, Stannis himself, and others. This might effect how the story is portrayed, therefore never take anything at face value, neither positively or negatively.
Changes to the "canon" that occured because of game mechanics, random events or random things happening in-game will effect how characters act etc, but will never be referenced as a change, they might however get RP reasonings for them. Example: Renly turned out to be shy which breaks from his canon character's personality greatly. This might, if addressed be explained by the fact that Renly was never called to Kings Landing to be Master of Laws by Robert.

Chapter I - The Crowned Stag

From the Memoirs of Stannis Baratheon, written by Maester Cayn from the words of Stannis himself.

I am Stannis Baratheon. Brother of Robert Baratheon, the Crowned Stag. Lord of Dragonstone, Master of Ships under my brother, husband to Lady Lynesse Hightower. I fought with Robert during his rebellion, held Storm's End through famine, took Dragonstone by force, and defended our family's name—Baratheon.

Robert made many blunders during his reign, his rule plagued by folly. But compared to the madness of the last king, his errors seemed almost tolerable. That is not much of a compliment—like praising a fire for being a little less hot. He was my brother, whether I liked it or not. Despite his faults, Robert's reign was largely peaceful. He was a warrior, and those who had seen him in battle during the Rebellion knew better than to challenge him. Through the marriage of my eldest son, Davos, to Lady Margaery Tyrell, even the fiercest of Robert’s past enemies, the Tyrells, were brought into the fold of the royal stag.

The first real challenge to Robert’s throne came from Lord Reaver Balon Greyjoy, who declared himself king of the Iron Islands in early 289 AC, saying, "I swore no oath to any Baratheon. Why should they be king, and I not?" And thus began the first Greyjoy Rebellion. As Master of Ships, I had spent years rebuilding the royal fleet, and it was I who sailed out to meet the Iron Fleet off the Cape of Eagles. The battle by Silkstone ended in a slaughter for the Greyjoys—Euron and Aeron died by my fleet, while Victarion, leading the land forces, was captured by Robert. The siege of Pyke began shortly afterward. Balon Greyjoy, the rogue kraken, was justly executed by Robert, and his son Rodrik was granted Pyke by the year’s end.

But the Greyjoys' defiance did not end there. Rodrik Greyjoy, foolish like his father, declared himself Iron King soon after. I was once again compelled to sail for those wretched islands. We laid siege to Great Wyk, but before we could bring it to its knees, the Iron Fleet struck again, taking King’s Landing and capturing Tommen. The scheming Queen, Cersei, then forced Robert’s hand—he made peace with House Greyjoy. Rodrik, weak and shamed, had lost an eye in the siege, he was scared. Even with his advantage of having my "nephew" hostage, he surrendered to Robert in fear born from a single arrow. A weak man. All he gained was the blight of training my "nephew".

Robert was found dead in the final warcamp. Only a day's travel to King's Landing. Someone had poisoned him. Perhaps it was Greyjoy? Or someone more scheming. The foul queen Cersei, who was due to give birth to Robert's final issue, died in childbed before seeing her son Joffrey become king.

Welcome to the Forum @requestbiscuit . I must say, that is certainly a unique name. No doubt you will find readers here because their are several notable and popular AGoT AARs as you allude to in your introduction. I'm sure you will find welcoming readers and commentators here. This forum is known for that.

A few items in case you were unaware:

You may wish to advertise your AAR in the Inkwell.

If you'd like to research writing topics there's the SolAARium and the fAARq, which are excellent resources.

Also, feel free to interact with other writers in the main part of the AARland forum.

If you feel up to it rubbing elbows with some of the writAARs in a different way you may decide to hang out in the bAAR .

Good luck to you and your AAR. I will certainly follow along after returning from a short stint away. I find the AGoT AARs always have something interesting, especially their visual representations.

Welcome to the forum! All of Chac's advice is good.

AGOT AARs tend to be interesting.

Why did Stannis marry Lynesse Hightower?

How long will it take for Stannis to discover that Joffrey is not actually Robert's son?

I'm loving how annoyed Stannis is at Robert.

How did Stannis get the nickname Strongstorm?

I played a lot of CK2 AGOT but not CK3's version, so I'm eager to see what's new. Echoing HistoryDude, I assume you chose Lynesse Hightower? She's definitely a better match than Selyse, and hopefully the marriage proves happier (although it is Stannis...). Does Stannis start unmarried in the bookmark?

Not one but two Greyjoy rebellions and both Robert and Cersei dead! I guess the only thing to do now is put our faith in Good King Joffrey. ;)

Also, you're English is quite good!

Sadly my game files got corrupted so I couldn't continue playing... I'm going to start a new one now though, but I was really excited for this playthrough..

Sorry to hear that. Good luck to you for when you pick up AAR writing again.
