In fact, I was about to do just that. And I hope it's not cheating to just copy/paste my votes from the Q1 2025 ACAs... :D

I was meaning to use this as a reminder to go vote if you hadn't already, but alas the voting was closed just before this...

But anyway... I'm going to wax nostalgic for a moment....

When I started this thread... Actually, when I picked up the idea started by Backfire long, long ago... I was busy writing my own first AAR.

It's hard to explain to someone who's not writing an AAR how important feedback and comments and encouragement are to a writer. It's a sustaining thing. Writers are always tempted to wonder if anyone will ever read their work, and to despair at the sense of even writing. But here on the Forum the feedback provides that encouragement to keep going. It's our reminder that someone really is reading. And, more importantly, that they're invested in the work enough to comment, ask questions, provide suggestions, whatever.

I am really glad that, after 20 years, this thread is still getting weekly attention, and new Fans of the Week are showing up on a more or less weekly basis. THAT is encouraging to me.

Thank you ALL for doing this, and for keeping this going.

@Sirdramaticus thank you very much for thinking of me for this honor! I very much appreciate it!

I'm going to pass this along to a new member and first time honoree @dmurgell, who has his own AAR and has been commenting on others and who voted in the Q1-2025 AARLand Choice Awards (which is another important way we recognize authors around here).

Congratulations and welcome to AARLand!

I know you're new, but please tell us some of the stories you've found, and please check the rules for passing on this award in a week.

P.s. I'm going to do something soon to prevent the scroll fatigue for the first post. Organization and all that. This is a 20 year old thread and needs some attention.

You can offload about 10 years worth of entries into Post #2. That would ease things. Let me know if you need a hand.

@Lord Durham that's a great idea! I hadn't realized that 2nd post was mine also.

I can do that. Just need to figure out what I want where.

Thanks once more @Rensslaer for the nomination, and everyone for your supporting messages. Appreciated.

One week has passed, so my turn to do the honours. I had some names in mind, and after checking who had been previously awarded in this list, I decided for @Chac1. He has been one of the more helpful and constant readers in my AAR and also he is involved in many others. Thanks for all the time and advice you share! Other candidates were also deserving the honours but I saw they have been already honoured not long ago.

I take the opportunity to suggest and recommend some of my readings, they are all CK2 AAR, hope you also enjoy them:
- Road of Queens by @Eurasia
- Tales of House d'Asti by @Austregisel
- True Sons of Ali by @Reykvolc
- Lost Seasons of the Danes by @Chac1
- North Wind, Midday Sun by @Ernain1111
... and very much waiting to see the World Where Absolute Monarchies Survived by @StrategyGameEnthusiast that is by now into the 'worldbuilding' stage.

So, everyone have a nice week and Congrats @Chac1 !!!

Thank you @dmurgell! Good suggestions!

And congratulations @Chac1! Four wins in your 3 years here is definitely understating your value to the Forum as an encourager and cheerleader! Thank you for all you do here!

Congratulations @Chac1! Truly one of the most involved members here. From writing, to reading and commenting, to interacting in special threads such as the SolAARium and bAAR, you help keep this community alive.

Well done!
