1) Did it work in the past and then it stopped or are you trying for the first time?
2) What kind of OS do you have?
3) What kind of graphical card did you have?
4) What version of the game do you have? Where did you buy it?
- I'm trying for the first time.
- Windows 7 home
- I'm not sure, it's an old laptop but it's radeon and it supports directx11
- 1.04, I bought it on G2a. (does it change anything?)
Uhmmm... please try a few changes:
1) in the launcher disable the intro video
2) in the launcher disable the sprites
There may be an issue with old integrated graphic card, but I need to look at past discussions. Please try the two proposals above first; if they don't work try to understand what kind of graphical card you have.
First proposals didn't work. Then i send you what I've found about my card: Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5470.
Maybe a monitor issue. What is the laptop model? If your laptop's desktop screen resolution doesn't appear in the launcher resolution menu than enter the custom sized resolution in settings.cfg file within the installation directory. Run the launcher from the installation directory instead of through steam's program (I assume you bought this as a key). Ensure that directdraw acceleration is enabled in Dxdiag.exe. Update the game version to 1.04 final. Maybe switch your OS to 16 bit color depth if previous instructions didn't work. Non-standard resolutions sometimes force windowed mode.

Try to disable sprites in Launcher as suggested by ^_AC_^.
There's a know issue with sprites and recent drivers from AMD.
Here's a workaround to it and another if the first does not work.
