Fatal Error with Victoria 3 Paradox Launcher

When I tried to run a mod file my friend had, my paradox launcher kept having a "general error" whenever I opened the playset. Therefore I tried to fix the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the paradox launcher. Deleting the old files and installing new ones.

However every time I try to install it it always gives this at the end when it "Finishes" installing. Any idea on what I should do??

So for some reason running HOI4 fixed the launcher, and now the launcher for Victoria 3 just launches without needing reinstallation, but now I'm getting the exact same error as I was getting before.

FYI both games use the same installation of the same launcher, so I'm not sure why you get different results.

That error you included here is a weird one that I've not seen before. Is that in the launcher logs, or where do you see that?

in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

And, do you hapepn to have Norton's antivirus? It is causing problems to our launcher at present, although maybe not quite what you are seeing!

I also have Avast Anti virus. This is in the launcher logs. It happens whenever i try to open a playset with victoria 3

Playeset errors are probably to do with mods then.


Please try the following:

• unsubscribe from all mods in BOTH the Steam Workshop and the Paradox mod site mods.paradoxplaza.com
• delete the folder Documents/Paradox Interactive/vic3/mod/
• delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/vic3/mods_registry.json (if present)
• delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/vic3/launcher-v2.sqlite (if present)
• run the game up and check the launcher is okay with no mod or other errors
• subscribe to a few mods
• run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.
