When I open Victoria, the starting video is at a reduced size with black around it. Then, when it finishes, it says something along the lines of "Fatal Error! Could not initialize video!" then gives me the options "Abort, Retry, Ignore". Any one of these then results in the Windows error screen popping up telling me there was an error for Victoria and it must close, then it closes.

Anyone?

That didn't work, it didn't even make it to the video before it told me it couldn't initialize it.
When you rename the folder, the game can't find the files and starts up without showing them.
I use this so I don't have to wait for them each time I start the game.

I your game still crashes its most likely not a video issue.
Has it worked before on your computer?

Yes, only recently has it started messing up.

ok.

Set colourdepth to 16 bit.

Set your resolution to 1024x768

What folder are those located in?

I tried to change my resolution via the settings file but it gave me no options to change it to, it's just blank.
