Found out after buying the game that it has major issues with overheating because the fan does not run as it should while playing it. Gamebreaking and unplayable after 10 minutes. I do not know how long this has been an issue, but lets hope the devs care enough to address it and figure out a fix. All my other games run perfectly fine and most of them are more resource intensive, so this is not a PS4 issue - but a game issue. Best regards.

This looks to be a 2 year old issue. I have heard nothing from Paradox about a fix. Maybe next update...

This issue has been around for a couple years. The 'fix' is to set your PS4 to 720 resolution. It ~shouldnt~ overheat now. The devs don't seem to care

Just turned on the ps4 pro and tried autosave sol 131, left in on the command center screen for about 5 minutes. The fan started spinning up loudly. Went to the fueling screen on liberty 1, it warned me it needed fuel, fan spun up loudly again, left it on until it warned me the black cubes destroyed a cement building, spun up loudly again. Luckily on my ps4 pro with a 4k tv it did not over heat and shut down so far. maybe there was an update finally between the spring and now. maybe its the fact the ac is on. or that I upgraded my ps4 to have a ssd in it. if I have time I might try a game over the weekend. for some reason the game struggles on pop up screens ie moral choice screens and command center. it should take less power to load a static screen not more?

Thanks for any info you guys can give

Played a bit this weekend. Generally it played ..fine. Any time there was a static popup the fan spun up so much my girlfriend asked if I was blow drying my hair. I had 3 overheat warnings: changing radio stations and being on that screen to long, saving, and when I went to launch a rocket that was still unloading. The PS4 Pro didn't shutdown, I was able to get out of the screen before that happened. Also at one point I had almost all the concrete sites going, which caused alot of video and audio stuttering. And lastly, I was playing until I went to save, it crashed the game. I sent a report, I haven't checked to see if it saved or if I have to use an autosave.

Generally it is playing better than in ?March? but my PS4 Pro isn't the same as it was then either.

I just checked. Surviving Mars ate my 'will it overheat' save. It did save my sol 212 autosave tho so that's fine. Have to rebuild my science back up to 5k.

The game so far has not gotten better. I tried landing people but they caused too many pop ups. I just went into terraforming. Got a dust storm warning from nuking mars that caused an overheat. the PS4 Pro is now permanently loud went playing the game and going into any screen that generates a pop up probably will put it into overheat. Trying to change the music crashed the ps4. going into the command center caused an overheat warning also. I am now sitting on a pile of money, resources, science and 100% terraforming goals. Think I'll shelve it and play something less processor intense, like God of War or FF7 Remake
