Victorians! We wish you a Happy Vickytines day!

As a special gift from us to you, we have sent you a survey to fill out which can help us bake a big scrumptious feedback pie chart! This survey is regarding various aspects of Diplomacy within Victoria 3 and we will be uploading more in the upcoming weeks with more topics so keep your eyes peeled!

What to Expect:
  • Survey Topics: We won't be covering every aspect of the game in these surveys, anything you want to give feedback on that isn't mentioned in a survey can be put in the regular feedback spots (Discord Feedback and the Forum Suggestions sections)
  • Time Commitment: All questions are optional so you can pick which you answer. That being said, to answer every point, we'd recommend putting at least 20 minutes aside to complete each form.
  • What we will do with the Feedback: It's important to note that this is not a confirmation or guarantee that any topics that are the focus of these surveys will result in them being reworked or added to the game at any point. This is only to collect feedback in a single place for the developers to review.
How you can Participate:

With no more preamble, we present the Diplomacy Feedback Form! Future surveys, will be posted here on the Forums with reminders on our other socials when each survey goes live.

We "heartily" appreciate your participation and look forward to reading your "sweet" feedback.

Thank you! Everyone on the team is really appreciative of the solid feedback we get from the community and we've been working on this for a while to ensure the Dev's can get the best feedback possible.

Well, looks like I sent my answer a bit early while trying to see how many questions there were.

There is quite a number of them, that's for sure

Love to see more requests for feedback.

I agree with others - that's a LOT of questions. I hope questions are in order of how much you want the feedback, because that's gonna be a mighty bounce rate.

Ok i said this in the survey, but i think it's a good idea so I thought I'd throw it here too:

Diplomatic Plays should have more options to de-escalate before the war breaks out. This was the era of the Pax Britannica. Diplomacy should be able to solve issues before they begin. For example, if two recognized powers are on opposite sides of a diplomatic play in Africa, it shouldn't lead to a land war in Europe. There should be something like a conference where then both interested parties can make proposals to de-escalate, sometimes at the expense of the country being fought over. For example, if the UK goes for a puppet war goal on Sokoto and France enters on Sokoto's side, there should be a conference where the UK and France can negotiate splitting Sokoto's territory between themselves or exchanging colonies in order to get France to leave the diplomatic play. If Sokoto refuses the demands of the conference, they gain infamy and lose relations with all recognised powers as they are refuting the colonisers' claims. That would make things more nuanced, make colonizing Africa more interesting and require less infamy gain and stop stupid land wars in Europe that don't make sense. Again, why should I as the UK have to occupy Paris to take Hausaland?

Done! thank you for allowing us to work on Friday afternoon by filling yet another form,

No really, It was a pleasure to send feedback in a structured way. I wish you could tell us what the statistical analysis programs told you as a result with some nice charts.

We're taking in what people are saying regarding length and will keep it in mind for future surveys. Each question is optional so those who are less interested in feedback for any of the specifics can skip skip them

Took me a little while to fill out. Next time it would be nice if you guys could start with listing what game mechanics are you going to ask about and also explain every relevant game concept in a few sentences. For instance, it wasn't clear what do you mean by a diplomatic play, whether you ask only about periods between starting a diplo play and a war breaking out or up until a peace treaty.

I want to see a more dynamic diplomacy system where I can add goals even during a war—same goes for alliance partners. It should also be more intuitive and make it harder for alliance partners to leave the war and abandon their allies.

There should also be a way to negotiate war goals, allowing both sides to make concessions and reach a peace agreement.

Some rules seem odd to me—for example, why can’t I support my colony when it is at war with an indirect vassal of mine?

I also think Infamy should be reworked to be more connected to diplomacy rather than just influencing radicals in conquered territories. Instead, I would tie the number of radicals in occupied regions more to the acceptance of local cultures.

Indeed. Give us conferences

Dude… This form is way too long for a form. And there are so many duplicate questions! o_O
I have to say, filling out a form like this in a university without getting paid is unimaginable.

I think the diplomatic play/war system needs to be reworked or at least expanded upon. I've been considering doing a large writeup with some ideas and suggestions but haven't since I didn't know if there was any chance it would pay off. I might get to it now.

That was a looong survey. Took myself about 90 minutes to verify everything ingame too.
Anyways, did you consider to post tests for balance changes as mods so that people could try it out themselves and give feedback based on a before / after comparison?

Most players interested in giving feedback are probably on the Forum too.

If the war is continuation of the diplomacy, then war shall be just one of the phase of the diploplay.
