Since I didn't play much when I first bought this game 5 years ago, and hardly remeber anything of it I decided to go with one of the suggested starting positions for beginners, the kingdom of Castille in 1066.

I found myself a suiteble wife by looking through some nearby nobles court. But isn't there a faster way to do this? IT takes long enough for me, but what about when I get half a dusin kids or so to marry off, it could take some time and be a bit tedious in the long run. Is there any faster way to do this?

Also I thought I could marry away anyone in my court, but I could only marry myself away, why is that, and how do I know who I will be able to decide wich once I get to marry off and who I don't? Even unmarried cortiered in my court was not eligble.

Click on the shields of other rulers and propose a marriage, then a list comes up of available candidates in that court. Just like you did with the duchies you already tried.

Are your brothers and sister still in your court ? Since you can only arrange marriages for people from your dynastie who are not married and who are in your court.

If you have Deus Vult (which I don't think you have) then there is a ledger with a bridefinder. So I would suggest to get Deus Vult.

Yeah I'm thinking about getting that. I think I will play a bit first to decide if I like this game before spending more money on it though.

I also cheched my siblings and they are not in my court, so that is probably why.

When I married though I got the option of take duty or not take duty. Take would cost me over 20ducats, while not take it only cost me one prestige. Is that some trick question or something? Who would pay 20ducats over loosing only 1 prestige? Or do you get some ekstra hidden bonus if you pay duty?

Edit: On a totally other matter, can I get away the annoying sound that happens when I click on my shield to get back to my capital and to bring up the menu?

The file is located at Crusader Kings -> sfx -> wave -> Interface_CoatOfArms. You could try deleting or replacing it.

It doesn't cost you gold or prestige, the event either gives you 20 gold or 1 prestige.

Oh, well that's good, then I certainly won't choose the prestige the next time:eek: I thought I had to pay for a big wedding party, give a present to her dad/lige or to the church for marrying us or something like that. To me duty is something you have to do and usually not something pleasent. Does it means more than one thing in english?

The event means dowry that the brides family gives to fiancee, which was a common place custom in ancient and medieval times. Basically it's a donation to help starting their own household, which in case of high nobility could be very large sum of money, or even land.

In game the amount you receive is determined by your own income.

Choose the gold.

Once you arrange a marriage, you will get prestige automatically. The event that pops up for the marriage of your ruler or his eldest daughter can give you some extra gold or prestige.

But the prestige gain from the event is minimal, like in your example just +1.

Deleting it worked fine. Until I reloaded the game again, then it was replaced by the first file in the wave folder: Combat_advance.waw. Not really an improvement.

I restored the old file, looked up in the sound files in EU3 imported one of them to the right map and renamed it, and it worked great :) Much less annoying sound.

You could, of course, just turn off all the sounds from the game. I did this because those repetative noises can become annoying. I then just popped open a music player and started playing music behind the game.
