Hey
I recently bought the game and just started the campaign. Finished the first two tutorial battles and after that I fought Sir Glais and beat him without a problem, that way I got King Mark aas companion. So the next task was to capture all 4 villages in that province and afterthat either side with King Idres the tyrant or the other King (sorry forgot his name). But first I Used the merc camp to refit my Troops and I also did the first excalibur quest..taking me 2 Seasons.. So a new Spring arises and I wanted to finish King Idres and his small province in the south. Attacked his army and....WHAT? He got a full army with lots of cavalry and brigans(much better archers then i got) and thats not enough, EVERY single unit of him got 4 silver stars (think they are fully upgraded) while only some units of mine got 1 upgrade yet.
So I started the tac-battle only to notice that his archers used only lik 3-4salvos to finish my archers. Wont talk about my Cavalry or so...
So...what Did I wrong? do I have to wait longer and just do this objective later? or do I have to attack him as soon as possible (just after capturing the villages in the 2nd province?), but either way..there must be something wrong if mya 4th battle will lead me against a fully upgraded army or? ;)

You can try to wait and maybe he will attack your ally (the other king), and catch him after he got some losses. or maybe he will divide his army. But if he does nothing after 1 year, try something else (or restart from scratch). You can try the Balin/Balan quest before (i can't remember if you can access it before finishing Idres though).
The maximum level for the units is 10 (5 red stars), so he has "only" lvl4 units. Each unit gets an upgrade at lvl5 and 10.

The key thing in KA is not to rush the storyline too much. King Idres is tough? Leave him alone. You can't recruit yet, but there should be several other quests in the beginning including ones which give you some elite troops (lionhearts and golden gryphons for rightful/christian play).

This applies generally to the while game. The armies will get stonger and stronger, so try not to rush the storyline. Also capture as much as possible before starting chapter 2.

Finally you may want to tick the "weak archers" box in the options or archers are so strong you barely need other troops.
