this is a first impression, maybe an aar, maybe issues report and maybe all that in one as I played and discovered stuff.

So as i got home hyped and u know yey release finally after watching quill 18, all dev stuff going on for last what year? I got home and wanted to test play as one of Japanese daimyos(Date) simply cause that's the fun way of uniting japan and then i went to national ideas and first shock was, yes u guessed right they are generic, that was first disappointment cause if I was to unite Japan i was to get then generic national ideas of Date or maybe I am wrong on that one(would be nice to confirm this from somebody), anyway with too much hype i went and choose to play as Japan itself and then well this is what I started:

First 40 years was like this literally:
see what mission i have and I had 2 integration ones+random non important one, first to integrate chokosawa(I think) and second shiba and picked first one, then i sent diplomats to both to royal marriage them, improve relationship and when they were high enough integrate. finished the mission and then got 2 another integration mission so i did royal marriage, improve relation but this time iv chosen to wait with 1 vassal(the other one that i had mission to integrate but i didnt choose it yet) extra 2 months before i started integrating and it worked perfectly cause when i finished 1 mission i immediately picked the other integration and got both of them done.
Now the problem was relationship penalty and legitimacy cause(nice balance for mass integrating) i also got regency council(sarcastically yeeys). So one thing that should probably get nerfed is the amount of troops u get when u integrated something cause I was over my land force limit which brutally hurt my economy so i destroyed the extra 10 regiments, nobody saw that happening. Overall integrating is fine, except military balancing maybe. And thats gameplay for 40 years, with stupid stability loss events and boosting it back to +1 over and over again.

But then i got mission to conquer southern 2 provinces from korea and since i wasn't paying much attention to that part of the area korea was like 90 % conquered by Ming but rebels did their work and all korea was again KOREA.Too bad for them cause i immediately declared war and roflstomped them with ease.I took 2 southern provinces +1 one north of them and i forced Korea to convert to Shinto cause i didn't want to overextend right away and next time i would declare war on them i would annex them simply

so truce came out and finally after what more than 12 stability hits cause of 2 deaths of my rulers and well 10 stability events that made me waste around 1k admin power(i never went above 1 stab it was unnecessary literally as asian nation u want to stockpile your admin points for that 5th lvl of tech) i finally hit lvl 4 admin and picked exploration idea, i was thinking for expansion but well im going to try to colonize Americas and Australia which are one of my goals in this game, so i stockpiled till then 1.2k diplo power and pushed 3 buttons and suddenly i can build colonies ^^. immediately I did colonize northern area above Japan and here is another issue i have is that u don't get warning that if you have more than 2 colonies that the cost goes up, maybe when Ur about to press send and if you already have 2 colonies to make a popup or something cause i literally didn't see that rule that if you have more the cost goes up dramatically. Also on colonization concept it has been done nicely but there are 2 things missing:
a) I couldn't find the button to abandon colony, and il get to why i want that in a sec.
b)I would like to personaly designate which colony i would like to grow so for example the ability to manually use sliders for allocation of funds for each colony, yes u have colonist and they are free but i would really want that, its in connection with abandon thingy and if i had it i wouldn't need to do what i had to do next

The issue i had is i went to colonize Taiwan, and the cost went to like -7 gold/month, mind you i didn't notice at that time still the 2 colonies limit and at that time with Taiwan i had it 6th colony building up, yes i was greedy, i couldn't find the button to abandon colony so what i did is i sent 1 infantry troop and 13 ships to that place, docked the ships assaulted and lost the colony on purpose and that 1 infantry, but I also lost 13 ships that i forgot to move out, my fault but i continued with no loading cause I thought hey shit happens.

I waited for northern colonies to grow, my truce with korea to expire and then i picked up another mission to conquer another province from Korea, of course i roflstomped them again, annexing them and then i came to 106 over extension with my colonies in north still coring, i was worried with rebellions but i had 30k stack in korea that could squash anything, and there were 0 rebellions for next 2 years until i picked conquer Ryukyu which i roflstomped and then in 1 province in Korea i think it was Hamhung, mind u was at 114 over extension now with still coring stuff, first it was 16 rebels then suddenly in next 2 months another 5k rebels and again another 5k rebels well that worried me cause i wasn't sure what are modifiers for attacking that province and i waited till it fell to rebels and they split and then i squashed the stacks like bugs.So the issue here is mainly the I cant see no river crossing on province menu,or province modifier for attacking and defending forces...please give that back cause otherwise im going to start making notes on each province...

So after i decreased that over extension and coring in my colonies was done and they were all supper and dandy i went for Taiwan and u know there is 7k natives in it which is no biggy, am i right? Of course im not when you are about to do what i did, so i transferred 10k troops down there again with about 10 cogs, Ur guessing where this is heading, but i forgot to do one minor thing. Those who watched quill 18 game play of EU4 will remember that he often forgot to move that army maintenance slider back to max , so i did just that it was on bare minimum like 10% of it, and i clicked the squash natives button and guess what happened i lost my 10k troops,my 10 cogs,my 200 settlers in one stupid click, I did when the battle started move it to max but it was too late. learn by mistake again, so lets count what i lost in total to taiwan natives by now:
11k manpower, which is abruptly also equals around 150 - 200 gold if you built them
23 ships from which 17 were cogs,and 6 galleys that's another 300 gold roughly i think
colony maintenance which was about another 70gold
90 army points cause it costs 45 per attack on them
And i never even thought about loading the game cause of the mistakes i did on that front, even tho it was annoying.

So to fix all these annoying natives that also if i forgot to mention make colony maintenance bigger the bigger natives are. I kinda went on small rampage on them so I again went for Taiwan and squashed them this time like a pro with my 100% army maintain 10k army, but I didn't stop there my armies literally burned,pillaged,ra.. every native Philippine to solve the problem in future in its core, even thou it wasn't their fault i made mistakes in Taiwan, i just had to lash at them at that point.I WOULD CONDEMN PEOPLE WHO DO THIS IN REAL LIFE SO DON'T DO IT!!!!(but this is a game, and this game allows you extermination of population on mass scale x_X,tho east vs west is even better at that with nukes, wonder what are Australian laws on mass extermination of people in games -.-)

So I integrated Uesugi in meantime and i started working on integrating Takeda, and improving with Date and colonized all of Philippines got to admin tech 5, finished coring all of my provinces and that's where we stop and it was only 91 years so far. My tech is 5-3-8 and I maxed out exploration idea.

Here is one fact that should be funny, remember that I was over force limit and i disbanded 10 extra regiments right cause of that, also remember that i lost about 11 regiments cause of Taiwan incidents, even with all that I didn't build up any new regiments myself in 91 years of game i just played ;p everything i got was from integration, only thing i did build was cogs and galleys.

Few more notes is that I never planned to start this thread(im still hyped but I couldn't sleep and this lappy cant run EU4 unless i turn on speed 1 and that would be too slow,so if people like this and wish me to continue posting this Japan play through ill happily do it with more pics and if you want to see certain ledger part of the map or something just reply and il do it for next time which might be even tomorrow.

To end this, here is quote from Sun Tzu Art of War book ("must" read if you want to be a good strategist, simple yet extraordinary useful) that I got from paradox for preordering:
"The quality of decision is like the well-timed swoop of a falcon which enables it to strike and destroy its victim."

This is how the map looks like.

All in all, thank you for reading this.

p.s. I'm always welcome to any criticism u can give me in this, also few questions to people that started as japan, did the beginning felt boring as well, or did you went on conquering spree, cause with so many vassals the "pen is mightier than the sword" tactic is awesome?Did you feel disappointing upon seeing daimyos with generic national ideas :/ ?
