First time gamer since basically Sim City 2000 and i dont know what i'm doing

Be gentle! I just am so excited about this game - I downloaded steam expressly for the game, but its so slow and unresponsive. I assume the problem is i have a shitty computer just not equipped to run a sophisticated game.

Am i right?

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011)
Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

Blahh. I'm sure i'm right. Let me know if there's anything I can do on this thing.

Not an expert on Mac stuff myself, but one thing that stands out is the graphics chipset. Intel HD graphics are not known for their gaming performance.
