Multiplayer: Double Education

In multiplayer if you do nothing when the "choose and education" window pops up for children, the game keeps going and eventually another will pop up for the same kid and so on. I don't have a screen shot, but I've given kids court, martial, and clecial education, with all the bonuses that come with each. They even finish all three educations and get three traits. You could probably do it even more than 3 times, I haven't tried.

This only happens in multiplayer, since the game pauses when the window pops up in single player. Perhaps the other windows should close automaticly if you select an education, or the windows should be timed?

I can verify this. It has happened to me too., altough I don't have a save of it (darn).

Then I guess it's easy to get many education end results as well, as in MP the game won't pause at receiving the education end result.

It's not necessarily just MP. In SP, if several windows come up, the game is unpaused as soon as an answer is given on any one of them [I'm sure other people must have spotted this, but I haven't noticed any comment on it in this forum]. I've quite often not replied to education popups for several days as a result of this. I've never left it long enough to be asked to give an education twice, but I have several times had the 'education completed' popup twice for the same character, with different results each time (the one that sticks is the first one replied to IIRC) :eek:

No, if you get two different late education events, the character gets both traits. (Nice if you get midas_touched plus fortune_builder, not so good if you get hole_in_the_pocket plus naive_wirepuller.) This can be greatly reduced, perhaps even eliminated, by changing the effects from action_a to immidiate. (Already done in my education mod.) You can't do the same thing in the early education events, since a choice is required, but short of Johan hard-coding a requirement that each character having at most one education trait (the way he did for some of the opposite traits in 1.02), the best way to deal with this is to change the event effects to remove the other education traits, i.e., for event 1012 (choose education for boys), for action_a (court education) add the lines:
Code:
effect = { type = remove_trait value = martial_education }
effect = { type = remove_trait value = ecclesiastical_education }
That way, the last answer is the one that sticks. I'll have to add that to the education mod after I get home.

FIXED IN 1.03 :)

Cat

However it is still happening in 1.03a. I played as the count of Oldenburg, and the son got two educations (martial and court), recieving the total of 20 prestige for that. However at the age of 15 he finished only the court education, and lost both educations then.

Doesn't that mean that it was fixed so you can't get two education results when you get adult. Only bad thing in the "two educations" is getting few points of prestige or piety for free. Which isn't that big bug.
