Hey, guys. I've posted similar comments elsewhere, but perhaps a dedicated thread will have better visibility.

I've been trying to replicate the effect Paradox has given to the default emblems, for my own, but I've been failing so far. Got the base gradient down more or less, but the problem is the exact specifications of the bevel effect and the shadow around the emblem. The bevel is the hardest part, and I can't quite nail it. It's driving me crazy.

So this is a dual request. First, to fellow modders: has anyone managed to recreate the right effect for their own emblems?

And secondly, to any charitable Paradoxian out there: is there any chance you could provide us with a .PSD with an example or instructions to replicate the effect?

Thanks in advance.

Using GIMP, once I have the outline of the logo I want to use, I go to Filter > Decor > Add Bevel, and make sure to select the option to keep the heightmap it creates. I then use the original outline plus the heightmap with Filter > Light and Shadow > Lighting Effects to create the right lighting effect. It's not 100% perfect, but it's quite close.

I can't speak to how to do it with other image editing tools, unfortunately.

I'll give that a shot once I get back home from work. Can you post a screenshot of a logo made with that kind of effects, so that everyone can see?
