I have a small problem which have annoyed me greatly when playing both Hearts of Iron and Europa Universalis. When I am playing mp3 files or CD's with the program MusicMatch, and at the same time playing Hearts of Iron the screen flashes every 5 seconds or so. It's just an annoying little problem, which of course can be easily corrected by not hearing music while playing, but if anyone got a quick solution for this i'd be a happy camper :cool:

I got a Soundblaster PCI thingie and GeForce 2 MX gfx card.

The first thing I'd try is reducing the hardware acceleration setting on your graphics adapter. Depending on your OS and display card, you should find it under:

Start-->Control Panel -->Display-->Settings-->Advanced (and then probably -->troubleshoot)

If that doesn't work, you might also try reducing the refresh rate on your monitor.

If you're still having the same problems, make sure you have all the current versions of your driver software, DirectX, etc. and if there are updates, apply them and try again.

If you're still having problems after all that, post back here with details of your system as per the request in the sticky at the top of the forum.

Quite epidemical this... and regardless of configuration too.

Epidemical - I love that word!

I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's a problem affecting a lot of users, but it does seem that a fairly numerous minority has these sorts of problems. Completely normal in the computer world though, based on the fact that the exact same hardware configuration can have a ridiculous number of possible driver and DirectX combinations. Also, other installed programs can cause these sorts of issues....

That's why we have a Support Forum, to try and help people with these issues.
