(This is a repost of an old thread I made, and I figured I should make a new one in hopes of it getting noticed.)

I have always been confused as to why Tuscany is a nation in 1444, as Florence is not. Historically, Florence owned the region which is Tuscany in 1444.
Not much would have to change for this. All that it would need is a name and flag change, government and rulers could be the same, ideas also.

Perhaps, for the Tuscan fanboys, there could be a decision to form Florence or Italy (Perhaps Florence being able to be formed at tech 6, and Italy at the normal time of when you can.)

If anyone has ideas for this, I'd like to hear.

"Furthermore, Tuscany must be destroyed."

This has been brought up repeatedly since EUIII and possibly earlier. Chances are it's not getting changed. Which is a shame, because I think it makes sense.

Then we're going to keep bugging them about it until they notice or at least say WHY they don't add it in.

Unless they've considerably improved something, adding tags to the game slows it down (and IIRC, every tag you add slows the game down more than the one before it), even when those tags are not in play. It additionally means a bunch of work (over which clowns will doubtless quibble) deciding which events should be Florence, which should be Tuscany, which should be Florence-or-Tuscany, which should be "any appropriately cultured tag that owns Firenze province", and which should be "any tag at all that owns Firenze province".

Also, there is at least some tendency to regard Florence as the successor state to the mediaeval Margraviate of Tuscany.

We're not going to have separate tags for Florence and Tuscany.

Atleast a reason would be nice.

Just change the starting flag, color, and name of 'Tuscany' to 'Florence' and add in a decision for Florence to "Form Tuscan Nation" with the conquest of Siena. Several mods have done this, it's ten minutes of work at most, and it won't lag the game to any real degree. Why not include it?

I would at least like to see Tuscany gone. I feel like Florence would be much better in place of it.
If anything, more flavour would be nice.

The state ruled from the city of Florence spent more of EU4's duration being called Tuscany than being called Florence; Cosimo de Medici was created Grand Duke of Tuscany in 1569.

And? I think it's fitting. More so than Tuscany, if there's a new tag for Florence and formable nation for Tuscany. 1570 is 1/4th of the way through the game. If we used that timeline logic, then why don't we get rid of Muscovy and Novgorod leave it as Russia?

One weird thing is the fact that we have separate tags for Tuscany and Etruria even though there is no way for Etruria to came to be.

Either way, Florence did, in fact, exist until the early-mid 1500's, so really it would make sense to have it. Not having it, yet having Burgundy, really doesn't make much sense. Both were important to Europe in their times.
