Premise:
Mid 1400's. The Reconquista is underway in Spain with just the southern part of the Iberian penninsula left. The kingdoms of Aragon have Castille have combinded. An inqusition(not sure if they happened this early) is underway. A problem arises. What to do with Spanish Moslems and Jews? As this problem is being considered, a young Spaniard arrives at Spain with incredible news: He had been in a small ship off the coast of Spain when a strong storm hs blown him off course. His navigation equipment is destroyed, and he drifts west. After a long period of time, he comes upon land. At first he thinks he has come upon the Far East. He lands and sees a empty, but beautiful land with flowers. He calls it Florida. After staying for a short while and forging for supplies, he is able to retrace his voyage and return to Spain(implausible, I know). The Spanish rulers get an idea. They will just send all off the heretics out to "Florida". The Spanish government convinces the unwanted that a being deported is beter to death or return to Africa where they would not be accepcted for being Spanish(implausible). So the heretics are all shipped west to Florida. They build up a succesful colony. Soon word comes back to Spain that there is no gold, so adventures avoid the new land. However, there is much famring oppitunity especially the citrus fruits, while land for grazing is plentiful. Anyway, many Spanish peasents immigrant looking for a new life. As the colony is distant from Spain, the following arrangement is formed: The King of Spain shall have the title of King of Spain, and that title shall be passed unto his son, and to his son's son. However local governors shall have effecitve governemt control. After the third king, a Floridian royal family shall have been set up. Also, the King of Spain and his son will recieve one half of all gold from the new country. Flash forward to 1492. The colony has grown to the provineces(city names in ()'s) Everglades(Florida Inferior), Seminole(St. Augustine), Tallahassee(Pensacola), and Mobile(Florida Ultima), with Pensacola as the capital. Much immigration has occured to the this new country. It's future is looking up.
Notes:
There is a COT in Mobile, as it controls all of the New World trade. This is also designed to give Florida a good source of money.
The first three monarchs are the same of the Spanish kings.
The following monarchs are identical to the New Spain monarchs.
Florida recieves one privateer, one land explorer, and one general at the start.
Florida has knowledge of some of the territories outside of it's land.
Florida recieves 6 colonists to convert all 4 of its territories to Catholic, as well as 1 or 2to start a new colony.
Where I need help:
How do I write up the history and strategy that you can see on the scenario page?
How do I change the name of a country? I want to be able to change the name of "New Spain" to "Florida?
Gameplay issues:
What should the the amount of explorers, generals, and admirals that Florida gets so they do not dominate all of North America, but not so they are feeble?
How shall I make the first 100 or so years of the scenario more exciting? I am worried that not much will happen until there are European colonies across North America.
If anyone wants to test this scenario and give me feedback, just email me at personi69@hotmail.com
