So i like that food is a resource for the army but i think it could be expanded upon abit.

Forts:
As most of you probably know there are siege outcomes that read "Food Shortage" and "Water Shortage". I think instead of having such things rely on a dice we could actually give forts a food supply simular to armies/provinces. Lets say 100 food capacity per fort level and if a granary is in the territory it's another 200 per granary level.

The fort could surrender while they have alot of food anyway due to a long siege leading to dessertions and loss of morale but forts that have a stable food supply should be able to hold out for years.

Now how will they have stable food supplies for years? That's simple if the fort territory also has a port a navy could supply them with food even with a siege ongoing, this would make taking a coastal city without naval suppremacy really hard.

Navy:
I imagine that navies also would have a food capacity like armies/provinces and like proposed above forts.

As read above i want navies to be able to supply forts with food but i would also want navies to be able to supply armies with food. This in turn would make naval suppremacy really important for coastal siege warfare and any campaigns on foreign soil.

Besides the dices rolls names (1) food is already a factor for forts:

It is more interesting to discuss why food is accounted for in the provincial level and not on the territory level where the fort is located. I made a suggestion with this mechanic in here:

Agreed, it's next to impossible to run out of provincial food since we cant even block the province trading food from the outside (also something navies should be able to do)
Thats why i want the fort to have it's own food supply.

This is a very good idea.

I imagine some ships as support units that can only store food. When the navy reaches the sieged port city, the food will add up to the reserves of the city while the cargo ships are inside the port.

Yes, I have been thinking of this as well and even ran tests, trying to supply ships with food, but it doesn't seem possible. My line of thinking now is a new unit ability that can send food from a coastal fleet to an adjacent province (besieged fort) or starving army...

And something using the mechanic of colonize? Instead of getting the province, a button to supply food to it.

Yes Forts can have a reserve of food (also a faster replenisment rate for armies stationed there) This food is getting as normal AND also taked by armies, prioritizing granaries if needed. Also there could have a tick where you can store (up to 50%) food that armies wont gather, reserved for sieges.
