Hey folks (and devs)! As someone who enjoys all of PDS's games, I really appreciate the modding support. In fact the GOT mod for CK2 is the whole reason I even know about PDS. Now, I'm assuming Stellaris is going to support modding to some degree, perhaps allowing for more faction pictures, etc. but I personally am hoping for a very expansive amount of options for modders. I personally really want to work on or see a Star Wars mod. I think Stellaris is sounding like JUST the perfect game to be able to portray the post-Return-of-the-Jedi Legends continuity conflicts with Imperial warlords declaring independence and a loyalist Empire and growing New Republic vying for dominance among smaller powers.

I would really like Stellaris to have the following:
  • The ability to create and use a 'static' galaxy map, meaning we can configure a galaxy to our liking and re-use it in play-throughs. Distant worlds has something similar.
  • The ability to pre-configure races/factions (this and the previous bullet is basically asking for the ability to turn off the randomness, at least to facilitate mods)
  • The ability to save ship design pre-sets. Since we can design or own ships, I would hope we can save them off. For instance, design a Star Destroyer and use that ship design as a default for an 'imperial faction' in a mod.
  • Have the tech tree modifiable so that we can define our own techs and the bonuses given for those techs.

These are just some basic ideas. I would imagine PDS will do a dev diary on modding and likely already have their scope designed since the game is in (post)alpha, but hopefully this is useful as a taste of what some fans would want. I hope others share their modding desires here too.

I would be incredibly surprised if any of that is not moddable, since that's kind of the very basics of what you'd need for a full-on overhaul/scenario mod that is quite popular in their other games.

Paradox has promised the game will be even more moddable than previous PDS games. So I can almost guaruntee all that will be available.

I can't wait to see what the modding community going to do.

If several factions cannot have a pressence on a planet in vanilla then mod support for that. Also faction within faction (if vanilla doesn't do that) liek the lower tier titles in ck2 (what's really missing from eu4).

Oh and a on_game_over on action which takes place before the game over and then after being executed reevalutes the game over.

It's a Paradox game. Modding should be the least of your worries.
Donät kid yourself there are plenty of limitations in current era paradix games.

However, at least in CK2, many of the restrictions on modding have been lifted in the last year or so.

Really, the one major part that is almost impossible to mod is the AI. EUIV has a few more hardcoded mechanics, I believe (like coring). But I'm not sure about that.

We are thinking a lot about modding, you don't need to worry ;)

YES! My planned LotGH mod may actually be possible.... I am a bit worried that with the whole 'procedurally generated' nature of the game making creating non-'procedurally generated' things being impossible. I want to mod the galaxy map (ie not make it random...) mod factions in, have only 1 race in(humans) but different factions of that race. Create entirely new spaceships(with new models/government forms etc.

Many yes but far from all of them. There are still plenty of thigns on the list even amongst the feasiable ones.

It was mentioned somewhere the custom maps could be made. What I'd love is if it would be possible to make a 'Semi-Random' map. In Distant Worlds someone made a Galaxy map that contains Earth and it's real life local surrounding star systems. Imagine creating a map with a similar premise, however all the star systems outside the local area would be randomly generated.

Can we get the option to use modifiers interchangeable?

For example in EU IV we can not put military tactics in an idea or triggered modifier cuz its tech only. It would be so awesome if all modifiers were free to use .

LEGEND OF GALACTIC HEROES FOR THE WIN!

I assume that is what you meant by LotGH, not sure why the t is in there

I wonder, will the game use paradox scripting language or something more powerful like Lua or C#?
The scripting language should be familiar to anyone who's modded other Clausewitz-based titles. There will of course be a lot of Stellaris-specific functionality (because space) and some general quality-of-life improvements over past games.

Was that for me? I never said anything about being worried, but it's good to receive official word from you guy/ladies.
