When you settle as a Hungarian in the Carpathian basin you are supposed to recive the k_hungary title and have the de jure lands within caparthia replaced with Hungary. I have tried this in vanilla and it worked so it has to be an issue with CK2+.

Is this using the newest version? And do you have the correct checksum?

If so, I'll need a bit more information than this -- such as how this was done (was it via the Old Gods start, with the war?) and what actually happened. Also a save prior to the war ending would be ideal, if you have it.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if it's bugged, considering the Hungarians are now nomadic and that could change any number of things.

I'm using the steam version of CK2+ and it is up to date with the checksum of WGYV. Its a repeatable bug and you get the same result in both start dates so the 867 war seems to have no effect.

I'm not sure what you mean by "both start dates". The war to establish Hungary is in the 867 bookmark only.

Sorry, I meant that if you settle in the Carpathian basin via conquest in the Charlemagne start it is no different from establishing it after winning the 867 war.

Ah. Considering how differently nomads appear to work than tribals, I might simply have to move over to the vanilla version of that event -- which is that you win the war and take the Carpathian basin with a tribal invasion CB, nothing more. It won't automatically settle you.

Indeed, I'm not entirely certain I could force the settling even if I wanted to. Nomads works in a very odd manner, apparently.

I dont think that is the same problem I am having. after winning the 867 war you are still a nomad but when you settle you are supposed to get the k_hungary title and you don't. I don't know what happened to break the settling event but shifting over to vanilla would most likely fix the problem.

There's apparently some sort of check for if nomadic Magyars settle in the area of Hungary -- they get the k_hungary title, and the de jure shifts. It's not the same as the old 'win the war' event, since this happened to me in vanilla from a Charlemagne start.

Reactions:
If you have a save when trying to settle in the Carpathia basin (not after the Old Gods war, but from a CM start), I'd appreciate it for testing a fix. That's a bit harder to re-create than testing the Old Gods war.

Sure! Here is a save from Charlemagne. Cheated pops and manpower before invading avaria. In vanilla settling in the the basin under identical conditions would give you k_hungary but here you get d_pest instead.

Is this what's causing the Hungarians to keep their counties in Crimea even after winning the war against Bulgaria?

The settling should be fixed already in the current version, but if you're using HL their "old" provinces remain with the magyar nomads.

Hungary keeps some counties outside of dejure Hungary (the ones that were directly owned by the Khagan and any non-nomad vassals).

That's fine, if that's what the settling function does. That's all the formation uses, if you have HL activated.
