I just formed France as Burgundy in the middle of 1526. After two months or so I get an event where my Monarch, Charles II, having failed to form france negotiates with the Emperor and Pope to regain the king-title of Burgundy forcing me to become Burgundy (again) and cede four provinces even though I just formed France.

It took the kingtitle of Burgundy originally and then revoked it with Le Terminaire.

hmm, doesn't make sense to me. Since you formed France, you should have the French tag. So any Burgundian event shouldn't trigger.

However, if you weren't actually France yet, but only said you wanted to BECOME france, I can see how it could happen.

if it's the first option true, though, I don't know what it is.

Any chance you have a series of savegame files?

It's totally weird.

If you formed France then the events for the alternate Burgundy (u21) should not fire for you as your tag has change to FRA, as Avernite says.

Then the timing is all out of whack. The event that offers you to go back to be Boring Burgundy is in 1526, as you say. But by that time le Temeraire is is dead, so how could you reform France again????

I don't know, I checked the event file and it is one after another, likely due to the stability requirement. By reaching the stab threshold for forming France so close to the Burgundy-U21 event the engine may have already prepared to fire Burgundy's and then when the first FRA event fires it's too late? You can form FRA as late as 1570 IIRC. I also didn't have a shield or flag after I reformed Ducal Burgundy.

I'll play around with an earlier save this weekend and see if it was just a fluke.

Thanks for the heads up on the close timing. I will make a few adjustments to ensure that it doesn't happen again. Although, as you say, sometimes weird flukey things happen with EU2, and it could be a one off.

Yes, France can be formed until 1570, but that dote was somewhat arbitrary. For Burgundy, at least, their 'gambit' may need to end earlier, perhaps with the death of Temeraire.
