A Clash of Kings Title.jpg

Hello, ladies and gentleman of all ages and classes, and welcome to A Clash of Kings, my newest forum game on the Paradox Interactive Forums. The year is 299 years after Aegon Targaryen's Landing, and chaos has beset Westeros once more. The Baratheon usurper King Robert has passed away from a hunting accident, and his cruel son Joffrey has succeeded him. Joffrey has executed his father-in-law, Lord of the North and previous Hand of the King Eddard Stark for suspected treason and questioning of his legitimacy, killed all of his father's suspected bastards in the capital, and has abused his own betrothed Sansa. This chain of events has led to the War of the Five Kings, a new game of thrones and a new challenge for the Crownlands.

In the North, the news of Lord Eddard's death has further motivated his eldest son Lord Robb to continue his military campaigns against the Lannisters in the Riverlands, and his own bannermen have even named him King of the North and Trident. Now Robb marches against the Crownlands and Westerlands, already having captured the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard in the Battle of the Whispering Wood, and is also supposed to be married with Roslin Frey eventually. He is also planning to send his friend and fellow ward of the late Eddard Stark Theon Greyjoy over to Pyke in the Iron Isles to lure the deadly Ironborn to his cause.

In the Westerlands, the Lannisters continue to fight against the Starks for supreme control of Westeros, while the dwarf and heir Tyrion is acting Hand of the King in King's Landing.

In Dragonstone, R'hllor claimant Stannis Baratheon fights against his own brother Renly for the Stormlands, and currently prepares for a parley at Storm's End for peace.

In the Reach, Lord Mace Tyrell supports Renly Baratheon, Lord of the Stormlands with the marriage to his daughter, Margaery.

In the Vale, child lord Robert Arryn is tutored by his mother Lysa Tully, and is neutral upon the War of the Five Kings currently.

In Dorne, Lord Doran Martell sits in his Sunspear castle, waiting for the right time to strike.

And finally, claimant Daenerys Targaryen is in Qarth, visiting the House of the Undying and trying to find her true purpose in the world of ice and fire.

HOW TO PLAY AND GENERAL RULES
In this game, each player will play as a House of Westeros and the land the House controls, with certain exceptions. Each turn passed will be the equivalent of two months in-game, but this will change when peacetime occurs or there are only minor wars in Westeros. Each player will only get to do one order every turn, but major characters (i.e House Stark, Lannister, etc.) will get two orders, as well as members of the King's Council.

For each order you submit to me, it should obtain very basic info about your head of the House and whatever you're going to order (which can be military, diplomatic, intrigue, etc...) Here's an example:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edderion Stark (age 38)
Order: Holding a grand feast in Winterfell to honour the 30th anniversary of the beginning of my reign as Lord of the North. Calling every major lord in the North to attend, and expects everyone to attend.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There will also be NPCs in-game for lordless characters, like Bronn or Beric Dondarrion. But, if any NPC does gain land, I shall make it so that that certain individual can be played by a non-NPC.

The King on the Iron Throne also gains access to the Small Council, the Kingsguard, and the Gold Cloaks. Anyone can play in these groups and as individuals in the group with their own individual order each turn, but the main leader of any of these groups are responsible for giving me an order for the entire group in general.

You can also play as Small Council Members and have your own order for a turn, such as:

Hand of the King
Master of Coin
Master of Laws
Master at Arms
Master of Whisperers
Master of Ships
and Grand Maester

Alliances will be solely based on marriages, and both Houses must agree on the marriage. If both Houses agree, a wedding will occur and you'll be forced to have one turn solely on the wedding. If you are an opponent of any House that's getting married in the wedding, you may use the turn that the wedding occurs in to plan to assassinate any members of the opposing House (up to 5 major people). Of course, you have to tell me this beforehand either in IRC chat or in a PM on the forum, and a random roll of a die will determine what happens to each member of the House you plan to kill.

In your order, you may also try to increase these stats:

Monthly Income
Soldier Reinforcement
Levies
Bannermen Relations
Navy

Warfare and battles are also determined randomly by a die roll, but certain modifiers will increase your chance of winning (for example, if your main character is skilled in fighting, you'll have an extra chance to decisively win a battle.) Casualties will also be decided this way, but with three 10-sided dice (like in the A Scream of Souls Forum Game.)

Here's the link to the IRC chat: http://www.coldfront.net/tiramisu/ and type in /join #ACoK. Have fun, everybody!

Just wwanted to ask: How do you declare a forum dead SIX MINUTES after it is posted? It´s not better to... Well, you know, no post it at all than to kill it in a matter of minutes? Don´t want to be harsh, but I don´t undertstand the reasoning

Well, Aedan messaged me on IRC chat saying that there can only be one active GoT game at a time, since that's what the rules say, apparently.

Yes. It looks like you have worked in this a lot more that in the last game. Keep in in hiatus, maybe do a small game about other thing in the meantime, it looks like you are improving

If I were you, I would focus on one game and stop creating and then abandoning them every couple weeks. This is what, the fourth now? I'm trying to be mean, but perhaps you should think more carefully before starting these.

You know, you're definitely right. I guess I'll stick with my Birth of America project then...

why only one Got game ?

Check the OT Forum Games Rules and Regulations sticky. Rule #3 is that there can only be one of any individual game at one time, with the exception of WW games. Blade! gives the example of not being able to have two zombie games running at once, so two GoT games probably isn't kosher.
