Prologue
A long time ago in a galaxy far,
far away...
It is a new era for the galaxy as the Galactic Republic, which had stood supreme for some 25 thousand years, is now fallen, replaced by the Galactic Empire and its NEW ORDER, forged by the schemes of its Emperor - Palpatine - and welcomed with thunderous applause by the beings it claimed to serve. Promoting order, stability, and peace in the wake of the devastation wrought by the Clone Wars and the purported crimes of the Jedi, the Empire promoted itself as a calm from the storm that had created galactic chaos, freedom from suffering.
But this dream of freedom was just that, a dream. Within days Emperor Palpatine - who revealed himself to be the SITH LORD DARTH SIDIOUS - had imperialized the galaxy, erasing the standing legacy of the Republic in favor of his own image. To enforce his will, the Emperor built up a massive military, reforming the Grand Army of the Republic - a vast legion of clones - into his personal Stormtroopers. The disparate intelligence agencies of the Republic were merged into Imperial Intelligence, acting as agents for Imperial plots. The Senate, the very organ that heralded Palpatine into control is now little more than a figurehead, while appointed Moffs are the true controllers of the Empire’s various sectors and systems. The egalitarian nature of the Republic has too been cast aside in favor of Human-centric speciesism. And at the Emperor’s side is his bulldog, his supreme commander and heir, Darth Vader, a Sith Lord whose name strikes fear throughout the galaxy, and for good reason.
It is 10 years into the Imperial Age and the Empire is at its heights. But the beings of the galaxy chafe at this NEW ORDER, and have begun to realize the grim fate that lies ahead should Palpatine continue to rule the galaxy. Past resistance has been sparse, ineffectual, and utterly crushed by the Imperial warmachine. You find yourself in this period of great change and tension, and perhaps you will in your life see yet another downfall of a galactic government, but for now, one thing is clear; the galaxy faces a truly new age...
How To Play
Hello everyone, and welcome to the second Star Wars game hosted by me, the
Signing Up
The first step in joining this adventure will be to PM me your character using this handy-dandy template:Name: It's your character name
Age: Must be 18 or older
Race: Please try to make realistic characters (in Star Wars terms)
Position: Role you fill within the galaxy, be it a Captain, a Moff, bureaucrat #3217, space janitor, etc. If you wish to begin as a rebel, please also include that here.
Asset (if applicable): If you do not start with a force under you
Biography: It's your character biography. No force sensitivity, keep it realistic (in Star Wars terms)

The reason I want these character sheets PMed to me, as opposed to simply posting it on the thread, is multi-pronged. Firstly, PMing me your character sheet will allow us to easily discuss any issues or concerns pertaining to your character without the thread being clogged with OOC discussion. Secondly, this will allow us to better talk out what particular assets you want, if applicable. Thirdly, it allows you to tell me secret things about your character that you do not necessarily have to include when you publicly post your character.
Once you have my approval, you can post your character sheet for all to see on the thread.
You can pretty much be from anywhere in the galaxy, although I expect you all to not make overpowered or super crazy characters, so no backflipping, uberl33t Hutts or super-awesome military war heroes who can never lose. I encourage diverse and interesting backstories, as well as personality quirks, hot-heads, cowards, and the like. Losing can be fun after all, so they say. Also, to avoid a situation where some players are inherently better, and to avoid this game becoming completely centered on the Force, NO FORCE-SENSITIVES ALLOWED.
IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO SIGN-UP. If you want in, I'll try to find a way to work you in. Please send me a private message if you are joining the game in progress so we can work something out.

Game Mechanics
Unlike my previous game, A New Age will feature light stats and more mechanics due to the very nature of the game’s focus. These stats will likely manifest themselves in simple troop counts, and perhaps income or general wealth status. Do not expect anything complex.
For the mechanics, I’ll lay out the various oddities and nuances of the special starting set-ups for the various roles.
Captains: If you begin as an officer within the Imperial Navy, you must begin as a Captain. As a captain, you will occupy a lower rung in the Imperial military hierarchy, but a rung nonetheless that you can climb, or tumble down, based on your actions. Under your control will be a taskforce consisting of the following: One Imperial-class Star Destroyer as your flagship, two Gladiator-class Star Destroyers, and three CR92a Assassin-class corvettes. Name them whatever you want, they are yours. In the beginning, you will likely be assigned some autonomy, but the upper ranks may deign to give you orders. Ascend to higher commands, and it could be you giving those orders.
Moff: If you begin as a Moff, an appointed governor of the Emperor’s will of a sector, you will need to send me what exactly you govern, namely, what systems. A good rule of thumb is that sectors tend to be built around a certain, important planet. For instance, the Alderaan Sector controls Alderaan and the system it lies in. The Imperial capital - Coruscant, now Imperial City - is off-limits.. PM me what you think would be a fair sector, and we’ll work out one.
Other: So you want to be a rebel, or member of the fringe, an importer of intergalactic shoe polish, or basically anyone beyond Moffs and Captains? Well, then you have assets! Thus, you will fill out the assets part of the character sheet obviously. What does this mean? A lot of things. While Moffs and Captains have more rigorously decided control over something (be it a sector or fleet), an asset is much more free-form, virtually anything you can think of. Influence on a planet, a mercenary band, a super-suped up ship, extensive martial training, wealth. Obviously this will need to be approved by myself to ensure balance and sense, but once approved it’s all yours. You do not even need to post your asset in the main thread if you want it to be secret. No one needs to know about your character’s in-depth knowledge of Mon Calamari poetry (you know you want to pick it).
How to do orders (taken from a GM Note):
"And here is how we are going to do orders. Orders are OPTIONAL, and to be used for long-term (yearly) actions, such as building up your criminal enterprise, patrolling a region of space, recruiting minions, stuff like that. Turn cycles will beWEEKLY, every time due on SATURDAY. Thus, the first due-date is SATURDAY, AUGUST 1st. Turns will represent an in-game YEAR.
However, I understand that a year, especially in Star Wars, is a very long span. Thus, the bulk of the game will likely be down via mini-updates. These mini-updates will be used for special events, campaigns, special encounters - basically all the little individual stuff, while the year will mainly be the background build-up and efforts of the players. When a mini-update pops up (say a Captain goes pirate-hunting and finds a target), I will contact appropriate parties for their input for the specific situation."
General Guidelines
- Pretty standard, no metagaming, powergaming, and the like
- Keep it PG-13, don't get freaky with it, this is an adventure, not a teenage romp. Some romance is fine
- Paradox Rules, of course, apply
- Other common sense rules that I have failed to specifically list out
