Is it just me, or do other people have this issue?

Even on Very Easy/Weakling....

Takes a week to conquer Poland. Can't attack during Winter Operations, yadda yadda. Make a play for France as early as possible and they have stacked over 100 divisions in Belgium?!?!?!?! Another 20 at the MAginot? And forget Luxembourg. It aint worth it to take that one territory when you face 12+ there....

How do they get all these divisions?!?!?!?!

The same thing happened to me, I had a game with Italy, in May 1940 the French had over 100 divs (I think 120-130), while Germany had 266 divisions. Still, even with the numerical superiority, Germany had considerable problems invading France - Vichy was created in mid-August.

What also bothers me is that Belgium joins the Allies immediately after I (as Germany) DOW Norway and Denmark, and the French start moving their forces to Belgium.

France has more IC in HSR, so I think that's the reason why they can build so many divisions.

How historically accurate is it for Belgium to join the Allies and the French to stack their army there? I thought the whole point was the Germans went....oh wait, around the Maginot? How is that possible if France stacks right there? And don't say anything about it being smart, etc etc etc, if the game is not gonna be historical to start, why have all those events?

Well... you can edit the events file and remove that event. But it really is annoying - as soon as Belgium joins the Allies, Luxembourg joins too - and then you have a whole bunch of trigger-happy French hiding in those Belgian forests, making your armored breaktrough a nightmare. Not fun at all.

i thought they had a big army but obselete stuff and bad general ideas ??

If you follow the historical path........nothing makes sense as soon as you partition Poland.

Yhea, the Frenchies pushed out 120 divsions when I was playing on easy/aggressive or something. In the middle of June I was on French soil, in september vichy fired. Thats was my hardest invasion of France ever.
I think there are events in hsr that gives that AI divisions, I heard it in the trp forum I think..

If you play with Bandit's events added on, the AI gets even more divisions. I never counted how many, but I would guess that the Soviet AI gets 600+ divisions from events, in addition to the 400 or so they may already have. As for getting through Belgium; you need to move all your infantry up from the coast down to Luxembourg, declare war on the Netherlands to stretch out the allies, then punch through Belgium with your armour and motorized forces and move up towards the coast to encircle most of the allied armies there. Of course, not of that works when you don't know that going to war with Denmark starts war with Belgium early and messes up all your grand plans. :(

Yeah, didn't take over Denmark last night, DOW on Belgium, marched right through....even while the whole winter operations thing was moving.

If you declare war on Denmark it's only necessary to have 1 small armoured force there of perhaps 2 tanks and 1 mot., and another 3 inf maybe to guard against invasions from Kopenhagen into your country.
As soon as you cross the border and take the first province, an event fires that lets you inherit Denmark. Why send your whole army there?

I dont think it's historical either for the whole German panzerforce to invade Denmark...

Taking a less historical road, don't invade Poland but start with France on august 31st 1939, they're not as strong at that point yet, should be possible to win within a month, and then you can take Poland out a bit easier. Also start on the Atlantikwall sooner, way before the US ever joins the Allied party.
