The randomness of this seems crazy. I recently installed Armageddon on a computer with Vista. I installed in a directory other than Program Files as suggested by several folks. The 1.2 Arma patch is installed.
The program seems to start up OK, and I can always get to the screen where you launch scenarios or saved games. But it takes anywhere from 3 to 10 (worst case so far....) attempts to load a scenario or saved game file. The game completely crashes after I select the file to load. After it crashes the Vista sidebar moves from the right side to the left side of the desktop screen. I re-start the game and try to load a save or scenario again. After multiple attempts it finally works. Even more crazily, after a file successfully loads I can then close out the scenario file, go back and select a new scenario, and it will load properly every time. Then after I close out Armageddon the whole process starts again. I don't have any file changes installed, and the scenarios that cause the game to crash and/or eventually work seem to be random.
This is massively frustrating but obviously not a show-stopper. But I worry that one of these times I won't be able to load a save or scenario at all. Any suggestions on what's going on and how to possibly fix it?
Thanks
