Anyone else getting extremely frequent crashes? I almost never get the PDX crash reporter, and when I do, it tells my the game crashed due to a problem with my graphics driver. My Nvidia drivers are all up to date, so I'm not sure what's going on
Can you post a screenshot of this or the file which gives you this information?I almost never get the PDX crash reporter, and when I do, it tells my the game crashed due to a problem with my graphics driver.
Sometimes after a few in-game weeks or days, sometimes while paused doing diplomacy, no real definitive trigger. Here some of the Exception files from a couple of the crash logs that I did manage to get. Unless you have the ability to open .dmp or .yml files, those probably won't be of much useWhen does it crash for you? Before you reach the main menu or when you try to start a game or while you are ingame and the game is paused or when the game is running on a random date or when the game is running on a specific date(for this particular campaign)?

Oh yeah I've already gone through the whole Intel degrading CPU roundabout lol. Had to replace my CPU cuz it burnt out. Reinstalling the drivers will fix it for a little bit, though further testing on my end shows that EU4 crashes more frequently when I have a YouTube video playing (the ADHD is real), and a friend of mine reminded me that the Helldivers Companion App website uses a *lot* of graphical processing power. Going to do some further testing after work todayThat's unusual. I don't remember seeing any such crash in eu4. Do you happen to have a recent Intel CPU? I googled around a bit and many recent crashes in nvidia drivers are attributed to the problems with modern intel CPUs. Here is a reddit thread with a bunch of suggested fixes:
You could also try to a clean reinstall of your nvidia drivers. Maybe there is a problem in some part which is used by paradox game, but not by the other games which you tried. E.g. eu4 is still using directx9, but the other games which you mentioned are newer and probably use newer directx versions or vulkan
OK, doesn't seem to have much of an effect. Closed the Companion App and got the crash reporter immediately, however the game let me keep playing anyway?Oh yeah I've already gone through the whole Intel degrading CPU roundabout lol. Ok, drivers reinstalled. Computer rebooted each step of the process, here we go! Going to give it some time to test long term stability, but so far so goodI suggest a clean reinstall of all Nvidia:
- uninstall it https://developer.nvidia.com/cleanup-tool
- reboot
- install September 2024 https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
- reboot again
- if GeForce Experience is now running, unload it before starting the game
Does that help?
Disregard, just got a crash, but it lasted a LOT longer than usual. It also did the thing where the crash reporter came up, but let me keep playingI suggest a clean reinstall of all Nvidia:

refreshRate=60
fullScreen=yes
borderless=no
vsync=no
So windowless boarders is the problem? How odd. I'll test that out after work todayFrom that exceptions log it is clearly in the Nvidia driver. Did you install the Sept 2024 one? Because it is not known to have any such issue, in general or with our games.
Right click on eu4.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Edit that settings.txt to say:
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode.
IF that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here. IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up. Thanks.
Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

not sure what you mean by 'unloading'. You mean like closing the program?Still an Nvidia issue, I see:
Does unloading GeForce Experience before starting the game help at all?
And, do CK2 and Stellaris work okay, or also have this problem?
I think Andrew means for you specifically.from what I've gathered, it's only PDX games that are crashing
Yeah, I mean that only PDX games crash on my computer, and all others run fineI think Andrew means for you specifically.
Yes, exit or quit or whatever.not sure what you mean by 'unloading'. You mean like closing the program?
Did they all stop working at the same time?Yeah, I mean that only PDX games crash on my computer, and all others run fine
