Right... so let's start in the old days (with a small exception for transportation - no carts, no horses but cars
The same (almost) way as Akruas does it in his Altengrad video series (with a notable difference - I always start there and can never get to contemporary times due to the game getting slower and slower... and slower).
In this part, here is my medieval Friedschol, with 2 surrounding villages: Kalastaa and Preddvor.
Starting with the lonely Friedschol Castle ... that was money devouring machine! Had to quickly build a village nearby and turn it all into a Park Area, to make money for moving in, and going to and back from work in fields - there was only one road to the farm fields and that led over just a single tiny bridge over the local river.
This gave me a considerable income and was a very big boost to my budget.

That was only 342 serfs in my castle village (but less than half of households was filled in, could have been potentially 750 inhabitants!), plus 712 in Preddvor on the other side of the river.
By 2066, the town got its own little market, church and a town hall (as if my castle wasn't enough!). But it lost part of its lands when a fishing settlement Kalastaa seperated.
Got its own schools (primary and high school and a tiny university), fire brigade, as well as first walls. And by 2073 it was of nearly 2600 inhabitants.
The town remains medieval, with its randomly thrown streets, shops and workshops (by the way - if someone could make some forges, other crafts shops and more variety in buildings (not that it's not enough, but we get bored after few minutes stroll in my town and seeing the same streets everywhere
) that would be fantastic!), it becomes charming little gem and evolves into a local center for trade... in grain as for today - 2116.
Kalastaa - still a small fishing village in the shadow of Friedschol's walls, it has its own tiny attraction - flying fishing boats! Ever wanted the flying Dutchman and was too scared to go to the Dutchman's Lodge in Twin Peaks? Kalastaa with its 455 population, will bring you peace
Following the road from Kalastaa through the Kalastaat Gate into Friedschol we can clearly see that by-passing the gate charges (some need to go through the Kalastaat Gate ticket office) doesn't bring much harm to my budget! I am earning a... well... a meager 1300$!
The same is at the other 2 gates (although north gate, the Cooks Gate, is a poor performer):
There's a little Harbour, as well as the Oak Mill - both bringing some additional income from fishery (it's farming ladies and gentlemen, nothing stranger than fiction) and farming (this time land type of farming).
With Preddvor of 1000 population and Kalastaa just below 460, this leaves Friedschol with just over 5200 town dwellers. They still have free schools, but as I get more and more greedy, I may start charging them for getting that precious education. That should be for those who can afford it only!
Let's see how they live:
the view from the Main Gate
Main Market
The second market... people living there got a strange taste in art:
no... not this one, the one below:
I'm sure the local bishop will take it down soon enough
And some mosre streets:
Some seem to herald my new name in the streets - they should meet a swift end... I need to install some gibbets or scaffolds (anyone has it somewhere in the workshop?).
In case anyone asked - my street network seems to be perfectly fine, sneaking all around the hills and slopes... with the road around the Main Market Square not being treated as a road! Strange.... It's called Cobblestone Lane so maybe don't use it.
There still remains a bit of space within the town walls to fill in.
Thank you all countless creators for making all our cities so wonderful!
